Ethernet gateway / wired sensors

Post by flyingpeter »

Hey guys!

This is my fist post. I am kind of new in Domoticz.

First of all congratulations to the developers for this awesome feature.

I have some knowledge about creating hardware and sensors and use them in arduinos and avr's. I am trying to integrate my sensors to the raspberry pi running domoticz.

Now i am having some doubts and i would like you to answer some simple questions:

1- All the sensors i see in forums are connected via RF or WiFi. Is there a way to connect them via Ethernet? I would like to wire my sensors directly at my arduino mega, and then that my arduino act like a gateway and send that information to my Pi. Is there a way to do that?

2- Esp8266 all the sensors i see in this module doesn't have any avr controlling the logic and sensor integration? I never tryed before RF/wifi comunications so i am trying to understand the general way to this to work.

3- Integration button: How does my Pi recognize a sensor? For example i have a 18B20 measuring temperature. i have it connected somewhere. How does my Pi recognize it to show it on the Domoticz interface? What do i have to do to make a sensor with integration button?

Thank you for your attention,
Pedro
