Advice needed on moving rfxtrx to other pi with ser2net

Post by stlaha2007 »

Hi there,

Seen some posts on ser2net and i'm able to move the rfxtrx433 to another pi near some KaKu switches and Alecto Wind and Temp-Hum device.

I have prepared the new PI with ser2net, rfxtrx is inserted and is seeing the Alecto devices.
I also added a new device on the original PI as RFXcom LAN.

How do i move the current devices on the original PI so that temp/wind/rain and switches keep their history?

As easy as add new from rfx-lan and replace? And what about the KaKu-switches, not pleased if i have to "learn" them again ;-).

Any advice will be welcome.

Grtz,
Stephan

You don't need to make a new device 'RFXcom LAN', just change the com port of the old RFXcom. All switches will work like they did before.

You select the original serial rfxcom hardware, change it's type to rfxcom lan, correct the settings, and press update
(always make a backup before you do this)

Thanks guys.

Backup runs... Havent tested yet...
Changing current hardware type from usb to LAN looks promising...

Gonna test it first on the other new PI...
Have a domoticz build from source there to test...

Again thanks for the advise.

Tested and works great...

I can imagen there are other with more PI's or arduino's with the same question howto setup and/or move hardware devices remote without a second domoticz setup.

So is this kind of setup/move handy for a new wiki page?

Its quite standard stuff ;) And when you make a backup and start playing, you can't damage anything

Sure ! Backup saved my day several times... Like living on the edge.

Wiki-page suggestion (wanna wright it myself) perhaps handy for those searching the "standard" options.

Mostly 'just' changing the hardware-type was a big issue, haven't found it mentioned in manual/wiki/forum as a possibility. On the other end quite obvious.
