Organizing the switches

Post by oliviers »

Hi,
I'm reaching the point where I have too many switches on the "Switch" tab and it becomes cumbersome to find the "right" one, especially on my smartphone.
I'm looking at the "Custom Tabs" feature to reorganize/regroup the switches .... But is there a way to "move" or "replicate" a switch from the swith tab (with all its features and setings) to a custom tab ?
Thankk for any help,

You can also add all the switches to rooms.
This works quite well, even on the dashboard.

The endless scrolling in the switch tab is one of the biggest reasons I created my floorplan. The whole system on one single screen :)

Yeah, floorplans might be one way to go.... With "virtual floors" to group my switches by category (Virtual floor "heating devices", virtual floor "lights", virtual floor "households", ....)
Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't use the 'normal' floorplans. I created my own PHP floorplan wich holds all switches, setpoints, thermometers, some scenes,...

How about placing $ characters infront of switches you dont want to see there ?
And placing switches in 'room' plans, also solves this issue

did not you know a dollar sign token would hide em, sweet thanks for that jewl.. my $HiddenDevices room is packed full.

I have a split level house and the floor plan kinda sucks as I'd need to go map out 4 different levels.. but I use the Room Plan constantly, it works just fine without using a floorplan.

If anything I use the room plan so much the "Room:" name is kinda a misnomer, Ive got rooms that are perimeter security, home theatre, aquarium, tamper switches, test devices (for theme building) etc.. I dont use them as rooms so much as groups of devices normally hidden unless you select that specific plan... I might change my theme to just call them "Plans:" so it makes more sense.

Only my most commonly used switches are not hidden and/or stashed in a roomplan, its just one more click and makes it much easier to navigate a ton of devices.

Hello,
Thanks for the "$" feature indication... I wasn't aware of this either.
I will follow the suggestions to regroup switches in "virtual rooms".
Topic closed and resolved, as far as I'm concerned.
