[Occupation:] Website Developer (dotNET and some Java/PHP/ColdFusion) and part-time System Administrator.
[Hobbies:] Gadgets, cycling (lots of it), rowing, running, improvisation theater, hanging out with friends.
[Choice for Domoticz:] About 7 years ago I bought a X10 set with two dimmers, a RF transceiver (CK17G-USB). But it turned out to be a big deal. Software wasn't ready (enough), so I only used the remote to turn on/off the lights. A few weeks ago a colleague of mine showed me Domoticz and I was hooked. It was simple and has a lot of features. Plus it was putting out enough updates.
[My role here:] Trying to learn all I can about Domoticz and trying to assist others in the process. Also I'm able to test new features and give (good) suggestions that would benefit the product/users.
[Equipment:] See my signature below (because it will likely update/change).
2x RPi (B) + RFXtrx433 and beta Domoticz

Open source, Raspberry, Z-wave and interfacing with X10 via RFX where my main drivers to decide for Domoticz
[My role here:] Trying to learn all I can about Domotica and try to realize, my home solution. I've not much programming experience so I hope to learn this also. Meanwhile helping this project with new idea's and user experience

Found is by accident using google (and a topic at Tweakers.net). Want to use home automation to give an insight on my energy use. But reading more&more on home automation, i decided to go all the way. A fully automated house :)
First steps: Buy a pi and a RFXcom
[My role here?] I'm not a programmer, so dont ask. I'm good at logical thinking. I'm active in more (open-source) applications. Willing to participate. Perhaps donate money or lend equipment. Anyway to help make this an outstanding product.

[Choise for domoticz:] Replacement for writing my own solution from scratch.
[My role here:] User (and helper if I can)
[Equipment:] PC, RFXtrx433, HomeEasy: Lots of dimmers & Plugs, 2 motion-sensors, 3 magnetic switches, 1 Oregon Electricity Sensor, 3 Oregon Temp Sensor.

Just wanted to say thanks to the people developing this software. I had been writing my own setup using a combination of Apache, PHP, Javascript, Highcharts, MySQL, EventGhost and so on. While this worked well I found it difficult to find the time to develop anything. I've just moved over to Domotics this month so can wait to see what happens over the next 12 months or so. Keep on going please!! I'll hope to contribute where I can.
My Setup: Pi, RFXtrx433, HomeEasy: 13 Dimmers & 4 Sockets, 2 motion-sensors, 3 magnetic switches, 1 OWL Electricity Sensor, 3 Oregon Temp Sensor.

[Country:] UK
[City:] Cambridge
[Occupation:] Programmer working in simulation and training. C# for over 10 years, but C++ for many years before that a very long time ago.
[Hobbies:] Too many to mention lol
[Reason for Choosing domoticz:]
Have been designing a custom system for several years but could never find a good enough platform/hardware/software combination (after trying a lot of different options: Tini, Netduino, PC). Domoticz on the Raspberry PI with the web interface solves many problems and offers a lot of potential so I thought I'd try it out! Following a lot of research it looks like the closest system available for what I want to do.
[My role here?] Trying things out. I could do development at a pinch, but C++ feels so old-fashioned to me now :-) I'm particularly keen on LightwaveRF and 1-wire and blockly + shell scripts to drive these devices, so this has been my focus up to now.
[My equipment]
Dev env: Windows 8.1 VM, VS 2013, GIT (which links to the SVN source code base).
Server : RPi running the Domoticz SD on a 16G card with RFXCOM433 and SheepWalk Electronics RPI2 1-wire interface
Devices: Various LightwaveRF switches (both on/off and dimmable) and dimmable bulbs (mainly connected to lights in the house), plugin sockets (for mobile devices like Christmas trees), relays (in a mains light-bulb test configuration before being connected to the central heating system -> boiler and radiator/hot water motorised valve), Mood switch (for central heating manual override) and a day/night sensor. Oregon temp/humidity sensor, a link to a local wunderground site + 2 DS18S20 temperature sensors (room temp + PC coolant temperature). I also have on the desk here a further 8 DS18S20 and 7 DS2405 switches which I could connect up for some stress testing for a laugh.

[Choise for domoticz:]
Now a days you can get different systems like HomeWizard, but it's expensive and closed source. As a developer I want to be more in control of the stuff I want to use and do inside my house :-) So that's why I chose to use Domoticz.
[My role here?] I want to help where I can with suggestions, how-to's and maybe help with the designing of the software.
