domoticz-raspberrypi-sdcard-2563.img update

Post by Saint613 »

Trying to update domoticz-raspberrypi-sdcard-2563.img, from what I've read it as to be done manually but I can seem to find how. Unfortunately domoticz-raspberrypi-sdcard-3530 image doesn't seem to work. Raspberry Pi 2 btw.

Thanks in the back

the sdcard image 3530 works

but if you just want to update domoticz, you could do so from the web interface

I am planning to make a new sd card image soon, but what you can also do is:
- backup you current sd card image (win32diskmanager), so you can always go back
- backup your database and if you use openzwave also Config/zwcfg_xxxx.xml

now burn the sdcard image (3530), and restore your database (and openzwave config file)
Quality outlives Quantity!

Was strangest issue, I could write the 2563 image to the microsd and it would boot fine but when I wrote the 3530 image it would boot with errors. The 2563 would fail the upgrade. I formatted the sd first each time and tried both the win32 utility and rufus to try the write. On a whim after seeing your reply I used a different sd and wrote the 3530 image, bam, worked perfect... Defies logic and reason, but I won't question success. :?

you got something wrong with that SD card, they get flakey like this before they totally bomb out.. I would be highly suspect of that card from here on out.

You could try writing the default image to the SD card, then reading it back to another image name then comparing checksums with the original, if they dont match your card is corrupting data.

Its not easy finding a quality uSD that will last the long haul, going the cheap route rarely ends well.. unfortunately there all cheap as dirt now, wish there was an industrial/archival grade of memory cards.. I would gladly pay more.

This is why I am fond of BeagleBones, they have onboard flash storage and dont need SD cards.
