Problem with LightWave PIR

Post by cjnicholl »

I have a domoticz system with a RFXTRX433e transmitter receiver.
I have purchased a Lightwave PIR which I can add to the system using "Learn Light Switch" but it then doesn't react at all.

Should it be set up in Domoticz as a motion sensor or a basic switch and what should the setting switches on the back of the PIR be set to?

Thanks

Is the sensor detected in RFXmngr with only the LightwaveRF protocol enabled?

If you have enabled Accept new Hardware Devices or better pushed the Allow for 5v minutes button you should receive the motion sensor as a LWRF On/Off device.
Please check with RFXmngr on a Windows system if nothing received in Domoticz!

When I learn the switch it gives me the option to choose what the device is. Should I choose switch rather than motion sensor?

Thanks for your help

I've found these to be VERY range limited. Firstly replace the batteries and then move it close to your transceiver to see if that helps. It should be set up as a motion sensor but will always appear on.

I use Simonrg's excellent smartPIR lua scripts to manage them (when they work!) check out https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Smart_Lua_Scripts - that should solve the usability problem.

It was a range problem. The PIR is quite close to the RFXCOM unit but it's a new extension packed with foil backed insulation.
