Please help a newbie out - Zwave - Domoticz / Devices? :?

Post by karde »

Hi,

Sorry, I'm new to this zwave thing, but have been trying to figure stuff out myself, so sorry if this has been explained somewhere, can't find any information though, and just need some help to get started :).
So now to the question :).
I have successfully setup domoticz and aded a aeon stick, I have paired a fibaro door sensor and can see it under setup / Hardware as "FIBARO System FGK101 Door Opening Sensor" (should I always enable polling, guess so- right..:/?) with a node id of 003 (0x03).

If I go to devices I can see this device as two "posts", that's two light bulbs, where one is grey.

Now I add these two with the green button and they show up under switches.

If I now try out the door sensor with my magnetic contact I can see that one of the devices turns from on to off (off when the sensor is attached), the other one don't seem to do anything though..

Is this they way you should work in Domoticz?
Added some other z-wave stuff as well and they turn upp the same way, should I group these devices somehow or just ignore the greyed out one?
Try out the device and see which one react and set alarm according to this, or should you download some script to add the device correctly?

Again, sorry if this question is really dumb.

Thanks for any help!!!

The FibaroSensor is the internal contacts, do you have anything hooked up to them? I believe you can put a temp sensor on there or another binary sensor.. If you dont have anything hooked up to the internal contacts then simply remove that device.

I believe you have to have the temp sensor installed before you pair it, so if you put one in now you'd have to remove it from the controller and re-add it.

Typically dont enable polling unless you find its not keeping accurate track of the devices status, for door/window sensors polling should not be needed, enabling it will likely result in errors as battery powered sensors will be largely asleep and wont respond to polling requests.

I also edit these door/window sensors and set there type to contact and not a normal switch, a normal switch or door lock you can send commands to and change the state on the UI... a contact switch you can only display the status of and not change, since you cannot tell your sensor to do anything and its a contact switch, configure it appropriately.

I think the second switch is the tamper detection.

A ok! Thank you guys!!!
Really helped me to know I'm on the right track :)!

On last thing, is there any way to find out which of these ID's is what or do you have to try and see which device react to what?
Is there any database you can look these up in?

For instatance, I now applied a Fibaro Smoke detector and got nine more devices :|, should I set these to alarm..?

No, not as far as i know.
And that is something i hate about Z-Wave. With some Z-Wave products you really get a LOT of subdevices, which makes it annoying to find the correct subdevice for your usage.

In your screenshot you can see the blue Arrow, a pencil, and the 'table' icon. If you click on that table icon, you can view the log of a switch. By looking at the logs of the subdevices, it makes it a bit easier to find the correct device, as you can see if it was triggered or not.

This sensor has tamper detection and input e.g. 1wire temp sensor. It's hard to say what connector was deiscoverd as second device without actually checking
