Autogenerate name on including new node + print name

Post by dimmer »

Hi,

Is there a way to set the name like '(Auto) Alarm type' or '(Auto) Emergency' for the new included devices? '(Auto) ' = then you know is auto generated or something....

When I include a new node there can be 8 devices be generated but they all look the same.

In the logs when you include a new node you see the following:

Code: Select all

2015-12-30 10:34:36.379 OpenZWave: New Node added. HomeID: 3887305232, NodeID: 25 (0x19)
2015-12-30 10:34:36.609 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: SWITCH BINARY, Label: Switch, Instance: 1
2015-12-30 10:34:36.634 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: BATTERY, Label: Battery Level, Instance: 1
2015-12-30 10:34:36.634 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: ALARM, Label: Alarm Type, Instance: 1
2015-12-30 10:34:36.637 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: ALARM, Label: Alarm Level, Instance: 1
<snip>
2015-12-30 10:34:49.680 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: ALARM, Label: SourceNodeId, Instance: 1
2015-12-30 10:34:49.681 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: ALARM, Label: Burglar, Instance: 1
2015-12-30 10:34:49.689 OpenZWave: Value_Added: Node: 25 (0x19), CommandClass: ALARM, Label: Emergency, Instance: 1

Is there a way the label is set into the name so you know what kind of device it is? Mostly I need to guess and it if you have a lot of devices every time you need to set your debug level to verbose to find which device is connected to which 'label' (/function). It's not the perfect solution but it will give you some more information. Just for better end user experience.

Or is there another way I can see which of the devices I need to switch on to turn on/off my siren? Thanks!!

2nd question:
Is it also possible to print the name of the device into the 'Setup'/'Devices' page? See column name in the screenshot below:

But this name is not used in the page 'Setup' / 'Devices'. I know it's the ID but I think it will have a better user experience, at least if you use this package for the first time. Since I've a bit experience and I know more about it I know how to find out.

Keep up the good work! It's a very nice solution! ;)
