What's the latest with Nest

Post by technoholic »

Hi all

I've seen reports that Nest is supported but that it doesn't work properly, eventually errors out. I have a Nest protect coming today and want to use it to trigger scenes etc like my fibaro smoke sensor currently does, but is there a way around the errors to get it working?

Thanks

?????

when you have it, you should test it, and then decide if it does not work (think it does), and then post a message to the forum

ok, so i've added it to my nest account and then added a nest device to Domoticz and put my account details in.

I've seen it appear in devices and added it to switches and changed the type to smoke detector. I tried to trigger it with smoke and it goes off but nothing happens in Domoticz. What am i doing wrong? I have updated to the latest stable version

I have 3 Nest Protects, but only one appears in Domoticz. The Thermostat is fine.

Are you able to use the protect to trigger things, does the switch get triggered when the alarm goes off? Mine does nothing when I set the alarm off with smoke

Nest Protect apis provided by Nest are read-only. So no, it's not possible to trigger something on the Protect itself.

the nest is polled every 30 seconds, could it be that the alarm was not long enough ?

Is it possible to increase that time? If i want all the house lights to turn on in the event of a fire, 30 seconds could be quite a long time. With the fibaro sensor, the domoticz device is triggered immediately

That is because it is sending an RF signal that the zwave controller receives....
maybe someone can implement the Firebase client library or REST Streaming api

I'm still struggling with this. I have an event set to turn lights on when the nest is triggered but setting the alarm off doesn't do anything in Domoticz. This worked fine with my old Fibaro smoke detector but that thing was useless at waking us up.
