Problems switching on to low level Fibaro FGD-212

Post by salvation »

I recently installed a new FGD-212 dimmer.
When I set this dimmer to a low light level using the UI (or a LUA script) the light turn on and immediately switches off.

Somebody experience similar problems and knows how to fix it?

Have you tried setting the minimum dim level a bit higher?
Also: is the switch setting correct on the config?

You mean by switch setting this one: 20. Inputs Button/Switch configuration ?
It's set to Mono stable input. And since I'm using a pulse switch i think it's correct?

The minimum dim level is set to 8% by auto calibration. Set it to 15% but that doesn't solve the problem.

Yes indeed. Mono-stable is correct for pulse switch.
Mono-stable: it is only stable in one position, thus it always returns to the default position-> pulse switch.
Bi-stable: It is stable in two positions, thus it will remain in one of the two and dus not return to default by itself->on/off switch.

So now we can assume you wired everything correctly and the problem might be on the software side.

What happens if you set the low level via Domoticz, and then try to turn on the switch by hand?

If I set a low dim value (approx 5%) in the GUI the light flashes. When I press the pulse switch the light goes on at the level it was on before.
So not at the lower level.

I've also try to give a look to the ZWave log, but I don't really understand :-)
Actions I performed during this log:
- turn on by GUI (pressing on)
- turn on by GUI (pressing low dim value)
- turn on by GUI (pressing medium dim value) -> this point the light flashes
- turn on by Switch -> light goes on
- turn off by Switch -> light goes off

What i think is the problem is that your lightbulb is either not using enough power, so you would need a bypass or it is not suitable enough for dimming.
Try exchanging the bulb for an old incandescent lamp and see if that makes any difference.

I thinks it's not only the low power. The lightbulb is a old incandescent lamp and no led so that couldn't be the problem. To make it sure a replaced the fibaro FGD-212 with the old one FGD-211. No problems at all, not with switching on or off or using extreme low dim levels. So I'm gonna test it in a setup were I'm using already a FGD-212. If the problem occur in that setup it's this specific FGD-212 device I guess.

I had the same problem! I could only turn the LED lights on or off, dimming was not possible. After auto calibration and a lot time, I set the following parameters:

* Minimum brightness level: 1 (%)

* Maximum brightness level: 40 (%)

* Load control mode:

Forced traling edge controle

* On/Off mode:

on/off mode disabled (dimming is possible)

Hope it helps you.
