RFXcom and universal remote control

Post by Iedipipeau »

Hello,

I would like to buy some universal remote controls for sending signals to my RFXcom (and domoticz). For example when leaving the house, for activating an alarm or something like that...
I was wondering if following would work: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Copy-cod ... 18485.html
Also which chipset i need to buy? (the frequency is quite obvious... 433 MHz :-) )

kind regards!

I use these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Siemens-Light ... 2a5242d17a
Very similar to the kaku devices. They can often be picked up for around £5 on ebay.

They are very useful to have sitting on a bedside table for lights/lamps etc.

Then the one below is more comparable with the one from aliexpress (which I think is not working with rfxcom).

Thank you for your replies.
The goal would be to have the remote with you, when leaving your house for example.
Then when you leave, you activate the "alarm" or something like that.
The other buttons could be handy also: opening the garage door if you have a compatible system etc...

I placed an order for this (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-BUIC ... 13089.html ) one.
Which I searched especially to the have the 2262-chip with it...
I'll let you know when it arrives and if RFXCom can detect the signal. I think you can also program this remote control (learn).
(i know there is a copy/paste error on the website, there is written everywhere 433 Mhz, but at one point they still mention the 315 MHz :-p)

I once bought a 2 button 433Mhz remote from eBay which wouldn't work.

Thanks to b_weijenberg i learned that i had to exchange a (SMD) resistor for a different value (3M3 > .... don't remember anymore). The resistor i got from a PT2262 PIR that i had lying around defective

Ok, just received the small transmittor... without manual :-)
Any hints how i should start, to see if it is detectable or not?
To see the signal in RFXManager, do i have to select all the transceiver types?

I have a suspicion that the transmittor doesn't have a learning mode? As when i press long on a button, the led doesn't start blinking or something like that...

The type I received is F4183A433.

Have you had any luck with your RFXCOM? I just got mine and the 4-button 'garage door' remote you linked to in your first post.
I have not been able to get the RFXCOM to detect any of its transmissions.
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
I bought the 433E rfxcom transceiver.

Hi,

I tried (months ago) with one that looks to your.
I'm sorry to tell you that I didn't manage to get it worked with RFXtrx ... I tried all RFXtrx protocols.

Since I ordered a Creasol Four : http://shop.creasol.it/index.php?page=s ... &Itemid=38
It is compatible with Meiantech protocol & RFXCOM.

To learn it a code, connect your RFXtrx to a laptop/desktop, download the RFXTRX program from their website site.
Select Meaitech protocol, set an ID an the other stuffs that are asked.
Set the remote in learning mode.
SPAM the send button of the program during the learning mode (really you have to send the information many and many times before it recognize and record it) .
If the remote receives it correctly, it should blink green and when you press the associated button of the remote, the program should tell you that it received a signal with Meiantech protocol.
Now just fit back your RFXtrx with domoticz and it should be able to detect it.

Hope it helps.

Damien.

I bought

The remote works nice with RFXCom and the Lighting4 protocol. The receiver works also, but Domoticz has no set/reset switch so i need two make two switches to turn on/off 1 channel.

Also you can set 3 modes on the board and install a push button, push button = switch is on, push button again = switch is off.

I bought this cheap remote (cloning) fob https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pcs-Un ... 61092.html

It works with RFXtrx433E (Lighting4 - PT2262).
It could be configured with Rfxmngr, so you have 4 buttons working with domoticz.
In rfxmngr go to Lighting4 tab, select your code, put the remote in learning keeping pushed a button, and "Transmit" the signal more times till led start blinking on the remote.
The remote must be touch the rfxtrx antenna :D

Beware! If you use La Crosse and/or Rubicson protocol for other devices, the remote will not work very well (too many misses).

I have the same cheap chinese remote, the weird thing is that 2 of the 4 buttons do not work... Remote button B and D are not recognized somehow.… Any suggestions?

Learining in Domoticz resulted in
Remote button A
Packettype = Lighting4
subtype = PT2262
Sequence nbr = 26
Code = 555503 decimal:5592323
S1- S24 = 0101 0101 0101 0101 0000 0011
Pulse = 461 usec
Signal level = 7 -64dBm

Remote button C
Packettype = Lighting1
subtype = ARC
Sequence nbr = 29
housecode = P
unitcode = 16
Command = Off
Signal level = 7 -64dBm

P.s. the details given are captured with RFXCOM manager. I have a RFXtrx433 (not a E version) and firmware version 1015.

The protocols enabled are:

Button C is wrong.
Reset it and make again the learning for all buttons with Rfxmngr with only Ligting4 enabled.
Then test the buttons always with rfxmngr.
Then test with domoticz with only Lighting4 enabled.
LaCrosse protocol could prevent the correct detection of buttons.

I disabled ARC and LaCrosse.
Reset the remote by pressing A and B together (quick flashing led)
Reset the remote by pressing C and D together (quick flashing led)
Removed A and C from Domoticz
Add via learning in domoticz, now Button A and C are both recognized, Lighting4, PT2262.

Still button B and D are not recognized...
P.s. does it has to do with the fact that when I press A or C the blue led is on continues, when I press B or D the blue led flashes quickly once (not continues).

To reset the remote you only have to press A and B together, not also C and D.
You realize that the remote is resetted, pushing buttons...led wil do only a short blink.

PS: my led is red

I tried a lot of methods, but I can only use 2 of the 4 buttons... maybe a faulty device :evil:

When resetting by pressing A and B, all the 4 buttons give a very short blue led flash, no programming possible
When resetting by pressing C and D, the buttons A and C will give a constant blue led and programming those is possible, buttons B and D will still give a very short blue led flash and those can not be programed.

It's the right states on which the buttons must be to be programmed.
Program them means that the buttons will learn the code you'll send with Rfxmngr.

To do this, you must:
- keep the remote near near (touching) the rfxmngr antenna.
- keep pressed the button to program.
- send with rfxmngr a code (lighting4) more times till the remote led start blinks.
Then the button is configured with the same code you sent.

This you must do for every button (with rfxmngr changed code).

This video will give you an idea...consider the original remote as the rfxmngr :)
