if you associate devices with the camera (for instance a dummy switch) on the dashboard you will see a camera icon on that switch.
clicking this will show the live camera.
maybe this works for the time being...

Create a Dummy switch
Set your camera and in the bottom add this switch as a device the you are done.

what device did you use to get that nice camera icon graphic?

I can be ok with this method but ideally I would like a virtual sensor type of Camera where I could just do this professionally. I tried using a text virtual sensor which is a utility type (nice) but I cant attach a camera to a text virtual sensor (bug?)

Found a better way to do this.
using a Ping Hardware switch (pinging my camera IP) then attaching the camera to the new Ping/Switch
this will show real status that the camera is online and viewable.. I love it.
