Domoticz Android app
While still in Alpha I would like to share my work on a Android app for controlling Domoticz.
It's a WIP (Work In Progress) but could use some help on the UI (User Interface) since that's not my cup of thee
Q&A
Why another app?
Because I like making my own app and I think I could do better than the competition.
I also will be making the source code available (open source) because I think that's what should be done on a open source Domotica platform.
When will it be ready?
When it's done. I have a daytime job and am doing this as a hobby.
Currently I have been working on for the last months and have put in as many as 100 hours.
Can I join in the Alpha test?
Yes you can!
I'm currently working on some core functionality (framework) so I have a stable framework to build on.
It's limited on supported devices but if you don't mind: then yes, please help!
What's working?
Right now the app has limited functionality like only switches, thermostat, blinds and scenes.
What needs to be tested?
[*]If everything works like expected.
[*]Report ANR's (Application Not Responding)
[*]Report crashes
Where can I help?
I could use layout suggestions for the Welcome Tutorial/wizard.
I also could use icons for switches/thermostat etc.
Where can I download the app?
Currently, you can't.
I will make it available on a download site and through my developer account in the play store.

Re: Domoticz Android app
Well, there should be a lot more...
The only usefull app is really outdated and lacks functionality..
Yours has good looks, and with the right spirit, it can have a lot of usefull features

Re: Domoticz Android app
Great!
Thanks guys.
Currently working together with jjnj and remb0 for ideas, testing and setting up the roadmap, issue tracker and (un)supported devices.
I've got some work to do and then I can add more devices from a huge list of devices I got from jjnj.
If that all works out I'll be opening it up for the first beta tests!
Added the ability to long click a switch and get more info and set the switch as favorite (set it on Dashboard).
In time I will make a nicer graphical bar for battery and signal level in this dialog but first the basics.

Re: Domoticz Android app
I'm using the SDK so it's Java (as is 80% of the Play Store).
No need for programming this in the NDK.
Why do you want to know that?

Re: Domoticz Android app
I am interested!
If time allows, I am also interested in implementing some features I personally need and others might use.
Please be on github,
Please use the github issues
Please don't name your repository 'domoticz' since that is confusing with the domoticz github repository

Re: Domoticz Android app
See my first post: I'll be open sourcing this app when the core is done.
That will indeed be Github.
