Re: [120] opentherm gateway
@skippiemanz i live in Belgium and we are still in pilot-program with our suppliers...they have been testing since 2012 ... :/ but hank anyway for the tip
@rkoebrugge oke i will, i just ordered the 2 youless meters, but if I order,receive and install int OTGW i'll let you know what i did if it works
@pwhooftman kan you take a picture of your calenta please how to connected the wires from the Calenta to the OTGW en from the OTGW to the thermostat please. Because i just went to see my setup upstairs en there are 5 or 6 cables in a tube coming fromthe wall straight into my calenta so ican't picture how the OTGW gets to be in the middle (especially when i never sodlered anything in my life)

Just let me know if I can help you with something. Already using the YouLess API for my PHP script for example.Deshke wrote:@rkoebrugge oke i will, i just ordered the 2 youless meters, but if I order,receive and install int OTGW i'll let you know what i did if it works
I'm a developer so maybe we can bundle our strength and offcourse help other Domoticz users !

Hi Deske,
My iSense is connected to the boiler with 2 wires.
I just cut that wire near the boiler, put the cable with 2 wires coming from the iSense to connector X1 , and the cable with 2 wires going to the boiler on connector X2:
Good chance that your 5-6 cables in the tube are a) not all connected to the iSense (detach it from the wall and take a look) or b) go to other stuff like outdoor temperature sensor of extra (floorheating) waterpump.

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
Is it not easier to
* open the door of the Calenta unscrew the wires of the green connector
* Add an extra cable with at least 4 wires (UTP cable will work)
* Screw 2 wires on the green connector (blue and white-blue in the picture)
* Connect (with a screw terminal for example) the 2 disconnected wires to 2 other wires of the new added cable (green and white green in the picture)
* Now add the other end of the 4 wires to the OTGW (blue and white-blue to boiler and green and white green to the thermostat)

You mean
- detach the two wires from the green terminal in the calenta
- add extra length to that two wires and lead them out of the Calenta to the OTGW thermostat terminal
- lead two wires from the OTGW boiler terminal back into the Calenta to the green terminal.
Sure, also possible. Whatever suits you.

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
Does anyone with the OTGW connected to a RPi and running latest beta of Domoticz also have stability issues?
The OTGW stops updating after about 3 times, to continue running i've set the hardware timeout to 1 minute. But Domoticz is crashing about 15 times a day. It is restarted with Monit but this shouldn't happen i suppose.

because of these kind of problems I reluctant to but the OTGW :/ a lot of people seem to have problems with it. Hope you can find a solutions for your problem ! Good luck.roblom wrote:Does anyone with the OTGW connected to a RPi and running latest beta of Domoticz also have stability issues?

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
Note that the OTGW only supports full-speed serial interfacing via the USb interface. If the Raspberry has a high speed USB interface, this will likely cause issues similar to your findings (it seems to work, but only for a limited time (minutes to hours). Same happens when using an TP-Link WR703N router to make the OTGW LAN/Wireless accisble. Solution is to put an inexpensive USB hub in between the OTGW and WR703N. Dont know is the same problem applies to a Raspberry. I use the OTGW directly on the Raspberry (model b).pwhooftman wrote:Note that the OTGW only supports full-speed serial interfacing via the USb interface. "full speed" is faster than "high speed"?
How can I determine if this is the case? I have a USB hub, but what is "inexpensive"?

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
I don't know, i have no experience with a Raspberry, so its just a guess on my part. Any usb hub will do, those all support full & high speed and are capable of connecting to both speeds.roblom wrote:I use the OTGW directly on the Raspberry (model b).

Furthermore, it's not normal that domoticz crashes 15 times a day, so maybe roblom has another problem. Domoticz & OTGW are quite capable of running for months without crashes. It's when the user starts tinkering with it, problems start

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
Of course I understand that crashing is not normal, that's why i like to have it solved.
* The OTGW works normal (and stays working) on the OTmonitor (using my laptop).
* When I switch the OTGW off in the hardware Domoticz keeps running.
As I use the integrated OTGW support which should work (I assume it has been tested) I'm out of options. Probably there are some errors in some logs but the log function in Domoticz (the one you can see trough the browser) shows no errors, except the one that it didn't received data for a certain time so it is restarting the worker.

I will try the USB hub again but I have tested this before and then Domoticz also stopped receiving information from the OTGW so I don't think this will help.2015-02-17 00:18:30.011 Error: OpenTherm Gateway hardware (9) nothing received for more then 5 Minutes!....

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
Heey,
I also had problems with my domoticz and otgw, but this was a SD-card problem.
At the moment it is working flowless in my setup.
Maybe you can/want to test it without domoticz as client, but run it from command line.
Code:
### Download OTGW
mkdir /home/pi/otgw/
wget -N http://otgw.tclcode.com/download/otmonitor-ahf -P /home/pi/otgw/
chmod +x /home/pi/otgw/otmonitor-ahf
### Make config file
nano /home/pi/otgw/otmonitor.conf
web {
enable true
port 8081
nopass true
}
connection {
device /dev/ttyUSB0
type serial
enable true
}
server {
enable true
port 7686
relay true
}
### Run it
/home/pi/otgw/otmonitor-ahf --daemon -f "/home/pi/otgw/otmonitor.conf" &
### Kill it (if needed)
killall -9 otmonitor-ahf
Connect Domoticz or OTGW-monitor to it's IP-address and port 7686
If you want it to run on reboot follow the next steps:
### Edit
sudo nano /etc/rc.local
### Add
printf "Starting OTGW"
(sleep 20;sudo /home/pi/otgw/otmonitor-ahf --daemon -f "/home/pi/otgw/otmonitor.conf)&
Hoping you can solve your problem with this.
Grz.,

But you have it running "flowless" by running it trough the command line or do you now use directly trough domoticz?

The IP adress is then the same as the IP adress of the RPi?Newwolf wrote:Connect Domoticz or OTGW-monitor to it's IP-address and port 7686
I have the WIFI adapter of the OTGW but this doesn't work because I reset it and now it seems it's missing some software but nobody is able to give me the right software. The company I bought the OTGW from does not respond on my emails.
Re: [120] opentherm gateway
My OTGW is connected on my Raspberry with USB and running through Domoticz. (OTGW-USB)
But it will also work separated.
The IP can be for example: localhost or 192.168.1.11
The benefit of running it separate is you can connect remote with the windows OTmonitor and active switches like AA=28 (return water)
If you are looking for the WRT704 firmware (look on google, but it's hard to find)

Re: [120] opentherm gateway
It works but the problem stays, after a few readings the updates of the OTGW stops without any errors....
