Pilot: Home Automation Control (android app)

Post by patoo77 »

Hi everyone,

Some of you might be familiar with Pilot, the iOS app I've built over the years. It's a Domoticz companion app that lets you control your installation through a nice native UI, with key features like multi-server support, location services, UI customization, password protection, widgets, Apple Watch support, and more.

I'm currently (finally!) working on bringing the app to android.

My long-term goal is feature parity between iOS and Android, which also means building platform-specific features where it makes sense.

I'm looking for volunteers to beta test. It'll be rough at first, for sure. :)

I'm also curious whether there are any android-specific features the community would like to see.

Just reply to this post or send me a DM, and we'll build this together.

Thank for your support!

[UPDATE 1]
Click here to get access to the open beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/fr ... eira.pilot
👉 Send me a DM if the link doesn't work.
It's an early build, so expect some rough edges -> that's exactly what I need testers for. 🙂

[UPDATE 2]
The app is now broadly available!
Please go here to install it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... eira.pilot
You may also learn more about it on the official website: https://pilothomecontrol.com/best-domoticz-android-app/

Hi everyone,

Quick follow-up to my earlier post about bringing Pilot to Android: the beta is now live and anyone can install it! 🎉

For those who missed it: Pilot is the Domoticz companion app I've built over the years on iOS, and I'm now bringing it to Android with a fully native UI. This first beta focuses on making it work with relative stability, and feature parity in mind: device control, multi-server, widgets, push notifications, and more.

👉 Send me a DM if you want to get access to the BETA.
It's an early build, so expect some rough edges -> that's exactly what I need testers for. 🙂

Two things I'd love from you:
Tell me what breaks, feels off, or is missing compared to what you'd expect.
Let me know if there are any Android-specific features you'd like to see.

As a thank-you, I've got a limited batch of codes giving 3 months of Premium for free to testers.
Reply here or send me a DM and I'll send you one while they last. Let's build this together!

I too get URL not found when using the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... eira.pilot.
A pity. Could it be that the country makes a difference? I am in The Netherlands and the id begins with fr. (France?).
I don't know how Google handles this.

It seems that I need the emails for internal testers before opening it up.
If you want to test the app, please DM me your email.

Great, the app works fine! How can I decrease font size so the tagnames/text fit inside the allowed spaces?

Some of mij tags need space...

That's a good question! In the settings of the app you normally have a toggle to select the font size, as well as the number of columns. Be sure to check it out, see if it helps. If it doesn't, I'll have a deeper look. A screenshot would help a lot :)

As it's a first version, I'm sure there will be lots of things to improve & fix.
