Do unused devices impact the performance of domoticz?

Post by imautohuttraeger »

Do unused devices impact the performance of domoticz, or are they simply "sleeping" as long as they are not changed to be used devices? Of cause they increase the number of devices in the database, but are they also triggering any activity in the background? I am asking, because in sometimes, I don't want to delete them in case I might need them later.

That depends on how you setup your system.

Have a look at Settings->Log

If you disable 'Log unused sensors' they won't cause any database activity

Also when you enable 'Only add newly received values to the Log', will decrease database activity

If you set a device to not used, it will not cause any cpu issues if that is your question.
(but can use database size if you keep 'log unused sensors' enabled

If you do not see any differences, just leave the settings as they are.

When a device is not set as 'used', it will not show up on various places (where devices need to be selected)
