2026V1 Water and Gas device is missing total value

Post by BartSr »

I found some problems with new stable version.
I noticed that the water and gas meter currently only is showing 'the today use' whereas the total is gone. I presume this might be considered as a bug. Happily this bug is not valid for kWh counter.

Hopefully this may be solved soon.
And way are these alterations done? It's a negative surprise to face 'missing data'.
Now it seems we carefully have to check for data which is taken out and probably forced to create a workaround? Who asked for such?

Well according to gizmocuz it is a feature.
it was removed from all counters so strange you say it is still working on your kWh meter
They decided to remove it but it seems to be back it the latest build 17682

typical case of IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T TRY TO FIX IT.

Maybe they should do a poll first before they start removing things.

Maybe it is already back in the beta?

And indeed for most normal users there a counter value is useless.

In addition to previous post the usage1+ usage2 as weel as return1+return2 is missing.
I always use that values to check if P1-device is still lined up with P1 device.

Sure.... Why won't they? There taken from the P1 datagrams?

As mentioned : to check the proper data.
But counterquestion: why do you do this kind of changes without checking if your users are with you. In such a case we don't have to discuss it afterwards making your users even more happy.

I think we need to be constructive and leave emotions out of the discussion(everybody feels the pain)

Question1: can we reverse the change(deleting the total counter display) so that everything gets back 100% as it was?
The reason for asking is i see more and more posts about missing total counters, returning total counters, total counters which returned but are not the same as before etc etc.
It's becoming a pandora's box.

We need to go back to a stable situation or otherwise the developers will be solving problems which were caused by not reversing things 100%

after that we can have a poll what we would like to see on those device tiles because there is lot's of info we do not need to see all the time
e.g. device data is golden, it is the reason domoticz exists
but why do i see "type: color switch"(i want to see a switch and i want to be able to switch it on/off)
if i want to see what type of switch it is, i like to see it only when i press edit

I am a lousy programmer but i am excellent in deciding if something is logical or not.
that's the fault microsoft is making over and over again.
They make an excellent gui (from their point of view) but fail to ask the customers if they agree and if not what they need to change.

i tested 17688 to see where we are

Watermeter displays total but in liters, this used to be M3
Energymeter does not display total at all
Energymeter low displays total low
energymeter high displays total high
Gasmeter displays total but does not specify M3

so we are definately not back to the perfectly working baseline as it was before.
these are serious disruptive changes
to give an example, i am reading the total value from domoticz in my watermeter and it expects M3, not liters

please bring back everything back to the way it was.

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. This is my personal project, something I build and maintain in my free time. I’m not working for you, and I’m not obligated to run every change by users before making decisions, especially when it comes to frontend and design decisions, where it’s simply impossible to match every individual preference. I will now be blamed by some users who doesn't want to see these values.

I absolutely value feedback, but it needs to be given with respect and understanding of the context. Open-source doesn’t mean “on-demand development.” If something doesn’t fit your needs, you’re completely free to fork the project and adapt it however you like.

Also, I’d appreciate a more constructive tone going forward. If this kind of attitude continues, I will simply remove your access and move on.

I hope you both understand, and that you’ll continue to enjoy and appreciate what I’m building, together with contributions from the community.

No, reverting these changes isn’t possible due to the amount of code that has been modified.

As you may have noticed, I’m already in the process of restoring the counters.
The P1 electricity counters have been reintroduced and will be included in an upcoming beta release.
There is currently no unit shown alongside these values, but that was also the case previously.
Adding proper units is planned but not yet implemented.

The addition of m3 for the gas meter required backend changes, and as far as I’m aware, the unit wasn’t displayed before (this has now been implemented)

Similarly, kWh devices currently don’t display their counter values.
It makes sense to include these as well, but this has not been implemented yet.

ok, thanks.

if the m3 was not there in the past then we can live without those.

regarding the totals, especially the water total.
previous total was in m3
I (and others) use that total for several things

1: my ESP32 watermeter collects the total from domoticz in m3 in case of outage
current total is displayed in liters but i am not sure if it is still reported in m3 on the report page (i downgraded to 17561 so can not check)

so if that will go back the way it was i think we are good to go.

It should be back in the current beta version (including the m3 for Gas), not sure if we should add kWh behind the P1 counter values?

Well it looked like it already was in 17688 (see screenshot couple posts back)
Te real P1 energy meter only displayed today in kWh
The 2 dummy devices(energy low and high) seem to display total and specify kWh

Re: 2026V1 Water and Gas device is missing total value

just tested with 17698
problems are still there
also the watermeter output total is no longer in m3 but in liters, this needs to be reversed to m3
have a look at the json output and you see what i mean

this is what i read on Commit 2432bcd
Fix: set divider to 1 for all kWh/energy device types so no second
division is applied. Water keeps divider=0.001 (API returns m³, widget
converts to Litres). Gas keeps divider=1 (no conversion needed).

I can confirm that the watermeter API DOES NOT return m³, it displays liters and it returns liters (see json output below)

look at the picture
dummy energy meters:
totals all good WITH kWh
extra UNDEFINED!!!

Watermeter:
Totals on report page:all good in m3
totals on tile still in liters

Do we now have two forum threads about this?
I just answered in the other issues thread that there is a beta.
You do not have to SHOUT with capital letters or exclamation marks.
Locking this issue otherwise I have to work this as hard ;)
