RasPi ZeroW :port8080 dead. New install[SOLVED]

Post by rabbit »

System:
Raspberry Pi ZeroW, Raspbian Bookworm Lite. It is a new, headless installation, no hardware attached.
SSH is functional, but i am not sure if the port 8080 or 443 are opened.
wget 192.162.1.82:8080 is not answering.

Code: Select all

sudo service domoticz.sh status

Feb 07 19:54:02 haz11 systemd[1]: Started domoticz.service - LSB: Home Automation System.
It seems to be a critical line:

Code: Select all

Feb 07 19:54:02 haz11 domoticz.sh[2666]: Illegal instruction:
What is the problem there, and what is the solution?

Is the Pi Zero suitable for running domoticz?
If the current os or domoticz version is not suitable for the Pi Zero, which is the latest usable version?

Greetings to everyone and have nice Weekend

If the CPU is armv6 it is not compatible for prebuild installations.

You can build it yourself and there are some external repositories that have a supported version eg: https://github.com/SjoerdNLD/Domoticz-Armv6

Yes, i , or wikipedia was wrong:

Code: Select all

cat /proc/cpuinfo:-->         model name      : ARMv6-compatible processor rev 7 (v6l)
After your proposal, I installed: domoticz_linux_armv7l.tgz.
But not works. It is not in the ist of running programs in "top" command.
Is there a compailed binary version of Domoticz available for download somewhere?

After a new install: Rpi Trixi lite headless, and domoticz_linux_2024.4_armv6.tgz, i have some advancement.

sudo service domoticz.sh

domoticz.service - LSB: Home Automation System
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/domoticz.sh; generated)
Active: active (exited) since Sun 2026-02-08 17:21:24 CET; 5min ago
Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
Process: 927 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/domoticz.sh start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
CPU: 105ms

Feb 08 17:21:24 haz11 systemd[1]: Started domoticz.service - LSB: Home Automation System.

According to the status message, Domoticz has started, but it is not visible in "top" command's task list. No any error mesage.

Still not available from web browser.

What if you stop the service and start Domoticz manually with
./domoticz

Ok, so you probably are running an older version 2025.1?
That indeed needs libssl1 you have to search how to install that on Trixie. There are topics here on the forum about that.

Hi, @rabbit,

Raspberry Pi Zero has an armv6 structure. So you have to use a version from the link, @waltervl provided in a previous post.
You installed Raspberry Pi OS Trixie, which has ssl3 installed.
So you have to install a Domoticz version, that also needs ssl3.
The version, you downloaded is 2024.4. That uses ssl1.1.

So download 2025.2 from Walters link or install ssl1.1 on Trixie.

Still the same error: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.1
- Rasperry pi trixi / Domoticz 2025.2 armv6
same with Bookworm lite os.

- Domoticz --> wget https://github.com/SjoerdNLD/Domoticz-A ... _armv6.tgz.
The question is: what is the functioning os / domoticz pairing.

I would like to avoid downgrading ssl from 3.0 to 1.1 because I am afraid that other software requires version 3.0.
Could a symlink help?

Any other idea?

You have to ask the build owner (from that other github repository)
For the Domoticz builds 2025.2 needs libssl3 so probably it is a setting of the build.

You can always try to build Domoticz for yourself: https://wiki.domoticz.com/Build_Domoticz_from_source

Hi @rabbit.

What does the following command show:

Code: Select all

openssl version
In my case, I run Domoticz 2025. 2 on a small test system Raspberry Pi 1B+, which is also an armv6 device under Raspberry Pi OS 12 Bookworm.
It shows:

Code: Select all

OpenSSL 3.0.18 30 Sep 2025 (Library: OpenSSL 3.0.18 30 Sep 2025)
On another computer with Debian 13 Trixie installed, it shows:

Code: Select all

OpenSSL 3.5.4 30 Sep 2025 (Library: OpenSSL 3.5.4 30 Sep 2025)
So both Bookworm and Trixie gives you OpenSSL version 3. So nothing wrong.
And so version 2025.2 should work.

Are you sure that the correct Domoticz version has been installed?

Check this and otherwise follow the description at: https://www.baeldung.com/linux/openssl- ... ade-debian

Hi,
Openssl Version: OpenSSL 3.5.4 30 Sep 2025 (Library: OpenSSL 3.5.4 30 Sep 2025) But domoticz ask for libssl.so.1.1.
The downloaded binary is: "domoticz_linux_2025.2_armv6.tgz." this is the latest.

Domoticz asks for 3 missing libraries and i attempted a workaround over simlink:
libssl.so.3 ---------> libssl.so.1.1
libcrypto.so.3 -----> libcrypto.so.1.1
libusb-1.0.so.0.5.0> libusb-0.1.so.4

At first glance, the first error message disappears, but another one appears in its place.
Original err_msg: ./domoticz: error while loading shared libraries: libusb-0.1.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The new error_msg:
./domoticz: /lib/libssl.so.1.1: version `OPENSSL_1_1_0' not found (required by ./domoticz)
./domoticz: /lib/libcrypto.so.1.1: version `OPENSSL_1_1_1' not found (required by ./domoticz)
./domoticz: /lib/libcrypto.so.1.1: version `OPENSSL_1_1_0' not found (required by ./domoticz)
The trick didn't work.

Compiling from source? Hm... I never attempted any compiling in linux.

Hi @rabbit,

Version 2025.2 does not require libssl 1.1. So you are starting the wrong version of Domoticz.
You said:
The downloaded binary is: "domoticz_linux_2025.2_armv6.tgz." this is the latest
This is not a binary, but an archive file. Extract this file in your Domoticz folder and be sure you run this extracted Domoticz file.

Hi @FireWizard,

The downloaded file was extrated and started, according to source webpage. The result was as described above.
(in my point of view this is a binary archiv not source. I apologize if I was not precise)

it seems that the problem is not domoticz specific, rather interaction between OS and Domoticz.

Compiling from source ? I neved tried it, and compiling on pi zero... im not sure if that is possible.
Im open for any new proposals.

just to clarify: domoticz_linux_2025.2_armv6.tgz ask for libssl.so.1.1.
You can see it in the copied error messages.

Hello @rabbit,

If you are fully convinced that you have downloaded https://github.com/SjoerdNLD/Domoticz-A ... tag/2025.2
and that you extracted it in the correct location and, I think, you already created an issue at Github.
Correct or was it someone else.

I run 2025.2 on my test system, which is RPi 1B (armv6) with Bookworm and OpenSSL3. No issues.

Or install libssl1.1 in Bookworm (or Trixie, but not tested).

See my post in: viewtopic.php?p=326293&hilit=libusb+dev#p326293

It's amazing that it works for you, but not for me.
