Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
Hi
I have bought an RFX868 to get the data from an Ecowitt WS90 sensor.
This WS90 sensor hasin fact 7 different sensors included
* Temperature
* Humidity
* Rain
* Wind
* UV level
* Solar power
* Barometric pressure
The RFX868 protocol to use has been defined using the RFXmngr.exe program on windows.
RFX868 is recognized by Domoticz,but only one device is created, namely the "wind" sensor (see attached screenshots)
My Domoticz version is 2024.4
Did I miss something in my configuration in order to see all sensors ?
I have also attached the output data of the WS90 sensor seen inside RFXmngr.exe program
Regards
Patrick

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
Hi Patrick,
All sensors should have been created.
But, I can't work with pictures, could you please copy/paste the content of the RFXMngr application here (specially that line with the data/time and the rest)

Also try to use the serial-by-id as this is unique through the system, you will get issues when you connect multiple usb devices in the feature as the usb ports might be changed internally after a reboot

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
I have added another senseor from Ecowitt a WH57 lightning sensor which is recognized and created in Domoticz without any problem
But still only the "wind" sensor created from WS90as shown in the picture Corresponding data from RFXmngr

Hi Patrick,
Together with RFXCom we made some changes, and your Weather device should now work.

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply but I was on hollidays
After your changes what should I change in my configuration ( in RFX868 and/or Domoticz) in order to get the missing sensors ?
I have just rebooted Domoticz (2024.4 version) but I still only see the "Wind" sensor
Also it is very strange as I will get several devices of type "wind" with different ids !!
I am also quite sure that no one else own an Ecowitt device in the radio range of the RFX868 which could explain different wind sensor ids (see picture)
Thanks a lot for your support
Patrick

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
After having waited some time I have now a lot of different sensors seen by the RFX868 with even some strange values which do not correspond in any way to the ones from my weather station! Do you have any idea of what could happen!?
Regards
Patrick

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
Your RFXCom device is probably receiving sensors from your Neighbours as well, and there could also be some bad reception. (Maybe the device is to far away?)
I would not worry about these, once you got your WS90 sensors added, configure domoticz to not accept new hardware/devices in the settings.
Focus on the solar/uv/wind,temp etc... with the ID's you know (74B1 for instance)
Check the battery level
Check with the RFXCom Mngr application as well if you receive 'others/problems'

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
When I look to the devices created I find as many as 226 with many different ID's (and increasing...) I am quite sure that it is impossible to have so many different Ecowitt sensors in my near environment, also some values of data are quite strange (183,2 °C 78% humidity for ID 4827 !!)gizmocuz wrote: ↑Tuesday 10 September 2024 7:42 Your RFXCom device is probably receiving sensors from your Neighbours as well, and there could also be some bad reception. Only one (the wind) is labeled 74B1 which is the id of the WD90 sensor in RFXmngr Also in RFXmngr I only see data from my 74B1 sensor ID
The only explanation I can see is an erroneous decoding of the data stream

gizmocus told you: "configure domoticz to not accept new hardware/devices in the settings"
This will avoid adding unknown sensors.
Delete all Ecowitt devices except 74B1
Domotics software needs an update to show the other sensors with the same ID 74B1:

No new Domoticz version needed...
In menu setup settings ( https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Applicati ... stem_Setup ) switch off setting "Accept new hardware devices" and press button Apply Settings.
This will prevent new devices are created.
Then remove all unwanted Ecowitt devices except those with value 74B1 in column ID

If Domoticz find some additional sensors other than the "74B1", so it will get them through the RFX868 device, so I should see them also using RFXmng, right ?
I can configure Domoticz to avoid to get new sensors but I cannot find any other device except the 74B1 in the RFXmngr log window, this is quite strange

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
I understand how to avoid to get new hardware created, but the problem is still that I have only ONE sensor (wind) which is created and displayed with the ID 74B1 and the 6 others which should be present are still not displayed (nor created)waltervl wrote: ↑Tuesday 10 September 2024 18:52 No new Domoticz version needed...

But by the way there is no explanation why domoticz will create so many other devices where RFXmngr does not see any of theses
If Domoticz see a sensor from RFX868 it should also be seen in RFXmngr log window using the same RFX868,no ?

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
Seems you receive more devices, like a strike count as well.
Anyway, perform these steps:
- go to hardware, disable the RFXCom hardware
- go to devices, delete all discovered devices for your RFXCom hardware
- go to settings, enable accept new hardware/devices
Now wait until your weather is received, 5 devices should be created, I tested this as well from your debug output:
I also tested with your lighting debug output, this creates two devices, so you will end up with 7 devices
After this, disable the accept new hardware3 devices option

I also tested with your lighting debug output, this creates two devices, so you will end up with 7 devices
After this, disable the accept new hardware3 devices option
I have done the following actions
* deleted the current RFX hardware declaration in Domoticz
* deleted all previously created devices in Domoticz
* created a new hardware entry for the RFX868 The following devices has been created
WS90 : only wind has been created
WH57 : Lightning Strike Count and Lightning Distance (this is OK) Could you please confirm that version 2024.4 of Domoticz should work or should I upgrade to a newer version?
Regards

Re: Ecowitt WS90 and RFX868, missing sensors
No, this is not working as a recent patch has been made.Could you please confirm that version 2024.4 of Domoticz should work or should I upgrade to a newer version
You have to use the beta version.
Bdw, the stable release is 2024.7 (but you need to use the current beta!)
In the settings you can specify to use the beta version.
Just make a complete backup before just in case
