Domoticz version 2024.7 released

Post by gizmocuz »

It's time again for a new stable release!

This could not have happened without the help of everyone who contributed to make this happen!
Forum moderators, users, beta testers and specially all those who contributed with code! Thank you once again!!!

As always, PLEASE make a FULL backup of your Domoticz folder (or in case of an embedded system, your SD card!)
This way you can always return to the previous version you were running before this update!
Thanks to all volunteers who helped with the implementation! I know it was a lot of work with a lot of stress!

A few notes before updating:
  • Because some users are still experiencing migration issues to ZWaveJS-UI, OpenZWave is back (No support!).
The OpenZWave project was stopped 2 years ago.
We still urge ysers using OpenZWave to migrate to ZWaveJS-UI in combination with the MQTT Autodiscovery method build into Domoticz.
    (See https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Zwave-JS-UI)
  • Armv6 device support has been stopped. Sure, you can still build Domoticz yourself, but no binary versions are published anymore.
This means devices like the Raspberry Pi 1, Pi Zero from ~12 years ago are not supported anymore.
  • When using Domoticz with client/server setup (multiple locations), it is important that both server and client run this version or a beta.
  • Support for remote updating a RFXCom transceiver has been removed as it was not working 100% with the latest models.
This was a joined decision between us, and you now need to use the flash application from the RFXCom website.
Here are the most important changes (there are way too many changes to list them all):
Version 2024.7 (July 13th 2024)
- Implemented: P1 Meter, Report, Header now also supports simple mode (No T1/T2/R1/R2 but just total)
- Fixed: Google Cloud Messaging (GCM/FCM) possible crash when notification needed to be send

Version 2024.6 (July 8th 2024)

- Fixed: EventSystem, LOG_FORCE now always logged
- Changed: Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) now uses the new v1 API of Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)

Version 2024.5 (July 7th 2024)

- Implemented: Currency Symbol in Location Settings
- Implemented: dzVents, Added historical data helper 'med' to calculate the median value
- Implemented: dzVents, Improved logging
- Implemented: Energy Dashboard
- Implemented: Enever, Added Budget Energy and Eneco
- Implemented: Enphase, Live storage data
- Implemented: Enphase, Option for more Inverter details (ac/dc voltage, temperature, lastupdate)
- Implemented: Event Editor, Close/Close All menu dropdown
- Implemented: Event Editor, Storing/Loading opened events
- Implemented: Hour chart for P1 log
- Implemented: MQTT-AD Climate Fan Mode
- Implemented: MQTT-AD Climate Swing Mode
- Implemented: OpenWeatherMap, API 3.0 support
- Implemented: P1 Meter, option to specify view (low/high tariff or simple (dynamic contract))
- Implemented: Possible to query a range of device states via JSON
- Implemented: SolarEdge, polling Storage devices
- Fixed: Data Pushers, Forecast for Weather Station subtypes
- Fixed: Floorplan, better detection of switches
- Fixed: Hardware Setup, hiding extra parameters when selecting a python plugin
- Fixed: PythonEx framework, two notifications where send for switch type devices
- Fixed: Python framework, custom image loading
- Removed: Cereal Proxy (not used anymore)
- Changed: EvoHome, now making use of general logging system
- Changed: MQTT-AD, now also handles brightness scale number values as string
- Changed: SBFSpot, disabled error 28 error
- Changed: Selector switch now displays correct state in Data field (and devices overview)

Nice work. :)
But I am missing some info.
This is not very informative.

Code: Select all

Status: EventSystem: Script event triggered: /home/pi/domoticz/dzVents/runtime/dzVents.lua

tx gizmocuz and all other developers for the new release. I just updated without issues.

I do have a question, in the changelog i read:
- Changed: Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) now uses the new v1 API of Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
how can i use this feature: the IOS app just crashes and hasn't been updated in 3 yrs, so how can i use the GCM/FCM feature? Is this documentated somewhere?

Another great improvement is that Domoticz now uses the (dynamic) energy prices in the database to calculate the energy costs.

Hi, thanks for this release, the update on my RPi 4 using Domoticz’ update option was perfect.
I so love the Energy Dashboard!

One silly question: how can I get a direct link to the Energy Dashboard on the main Domoticz Dashboard? I can’t ‘favorite’ the Energy Dashboard, can I?

It does not work on my Raspberry at all.
It is unreachable, nothing works if the GUI comes up sometimes
Am I the only one ? and any ideas about this??

I already cleaned up the browser history

Is there a way to get back to the previous version??

Thanks in advance

@jeetje,

I do use that as a workaround too (thanks for that)
I restart it every hour at this moment and that works OK.

Hopefully there will be a structural solution the next weeks.

Thanks

This is not the topic to discuss this and it will not be solved until more is clear what is going on. Please make a more complete issue in the bugs and problems topic https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

But it is the most logical place to mention it here!
Here people also report what is so nice about it and that it went well.
But that apparently does not apply to everyone. That can (regarding the release) be a very usefull warning to others. May be to wait until clear what the cause and/or solution is.
(Next to that, you might open a new topic to discuss the details.)

In addition: Maybe it's up to a moderator to give the clues on this and not each individual member with their own thoughts about it.

Hi all,

Thanks for this release. It looks like a very nice update indeed.

One question about the release process though; are github releases supported by the project, or not? Or is something broken in the pipeline?
I noticed the latest release is not there.

(reason is that I install updates automatically on my raspberries, using ansible, from the github page)
