No Flashing of sensor when an update is received

Post by niki_lauda »

I have an instance of Domoticz running on a Raspberry Pi. If I open Domoticz in the browser the data is not refreshed when it changes.

Anyone any idea?

If I run an instance on Windows in the same browser(s) the flashing sensors work as expected.

Are these the same versions of Domoticz? As this could give conflicts in cached JavaScripts that Domoticz uses to create and update the user interface.

Try to open the RPi version in a browser session in private/incognito mode and see if it now works.

Its getting stranger.

On my iPad: if I use my internal IP-adres the flashing is there its normal,
if I use my external address updates of sensors do not flash.

My experience.
- Firefox on Windows has a problem loading the page, the page stays in the blue background color of Domoticz. I give it a kick with F5
- Firefox on Android doesn't update. Have to refresh manually.
- Edge in Windows works like a charm. Numbers in the tiles refresh at once. On the other side; Edge sometimes hangs and then nothing happens in any tab.
Bugs bug me.

Domoticz: 2023.2 on Raspberry PI3B
2 PCs: Win10
Smartphone: Android 11

Same problem here.
Since I reinstalled Domoticz to the latest version, the browser pages are no longer automatically refreshed after a change of state. I have to do it manually (F5, page change or whatever) for the new state to be displayed.
The problem is the same, whether on Android, Firefox or Edge.
Is there anything I can do to correct this bug ?

Same here,
Rpi 3B+, bookwork x64, Domoticz Build 15781
Sockets / Lights / Switches seem to respond OK and the widget flashes on change of state however temp /hum sensors do not although there data does update and the "last seen" value also changes.

Is anyone else seeing this issue, I've just got back to work and noticed my test system there also exhibits the same problem, that is currently on 2023.2(15754)
It is only devices on the Temperature tab though, anything on Switches or Utility is fine.

Updated to latest beta and using Edge no different. The widget sensor value and the last seen value both update but the widget does not flash when an update is received, this is only happening on the Temperature tab, all other widgets on Switches and Utility tabs upadate and flash correctly. As the updates are happening it's not a problem it's just strange.

Confirmed this is definitely bug, if I add a temp sensor to a room and then go to the dashboard and select that room then I see the sensor flash when it gets an update however if then go to the temp tab and look at the same sensor it does not flash when it gets an update as do none of the others on the temp tab, they do update though, the value and time stamp changes as expected, just no flash.
Given that this software is written, supported and updated for free this is not a criticism, in fact I am eternally greatful to all those who give their time for free and the effort put in to write and support it but there is definitely a bug in relation to the temp tab. I have 3 different instances of Domoticz and they all display the same problem.
I suppose really I'm just looking for confirmation that I'm not going mad !

Re: No Flashing of sensor when an update is received

Hello Gizmocuz, the forum,

My problem is different. My installation is very simple as I have only few Z-Wave devices and a simple control of my central heating (on and off only).

When I change the status of one of the switches, I have the message confirming the new status, the corresponding device change as well, but the icon remains unchanged. Furthermore, next action on the same device do nothing more than the same message.
To solve this issue, I have to refresh the page either by F5 or by changing the page and back. Icon is then refreshed and it is possible to revert the switch to its original status but with the same behaviour.
This is quite annoying.
I have just switched to the 2024-1 and it is the same.
Any idea of what could be wrong ?

If you have a different issue please make a new topic. It is a little rude to hijack someone elses issue as it makes the discussion unreadable.

Sorry for that. What I meant is : althought I have not a measurement of temperature or flashing sensor or else, only few switches, my problem is similar in the sense that the page has to be refreshed manually when a change occurs. So I think this participate in the same problem. That is the reason why I supposed it is the right place to report the bug. But if you think I should move to a new subject which IMO will look similar, I'll do it ;)

Hello,

I come back to inform that my problem is solved.

I connect to Domoticz with a domain name (https://domo.mydomain). This name is solved locally by a local DNS server and the address is redirected by a reverse proxy. The problem was lying there.
All is working fine if I connect with the IP of the Rasp, updating of the page is ok when a status of a device changes.
Updating is down when I connect with the domain name.
So I have solved the problem by adding a websocket heading to the rule of domain for Domoticz in the reverse proxy and its OK now.

The DNS server and reverse proxy are both on my Synology NAS.

Hopping this could help others ;)

As you can see it updates fine
Thanks for the vote of confidence

I didn't say it doesn't update, the sensor value and the time stamp change as they should but the highlighted bar that contains the widget name and sensor value should change from a light blue to light yellow colour briefly as the sensor updates, all widgets on all tabs have always done this providing you have the flash sensor on update option switched on which I do. All widgets on all tabs perform this way except for the ones on the Temp tab, values update but there is no 'flash' of the widget.
This is in any browser and from 3 different installs of Domoticz, worked fine in 2023.2 but since 2024 regardless of beta version they don't flash for me :(

Sorry to try and revive this but I still have the issue and it can't be browser related - heres why.

If I add a device from the Utility tab and a device from the Temp tab to my favourites and then open 3 instances of domoticz so I can see (all at the same time) the Dashboard, Utility and Temp tabs each in a separate browser (in my instance it's Firefox but I've tired Chrome and Edge too) the device from Utility flashes in both the Dashboard and Utility browser view however the Temp device only flashes on the Dashboard browser view. Yes I know it doesn't affect operation I just want to know why.
Can anyone else who has this issue try the above and see if they get the same result.

Thanks

Can you post a screenshot how you solved this in your Syno. Maybe via a DM?
