Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
Upgraded my Domoticz remote RPi3B from Version 2023-1 to Version 2024-1 and my Domoticz master RPi4B from Version 2023-2 to Version 2024-1. On the master I had to install Version 2024-1 Beta (build:15817) because I use OpenZWave Razberry for my ZWave devices. But now I’am no longer capable to share my P1 Smart Meter USB devices which run on the remote, on my master. Checked user, passwords, the log file of the master reports a succesfull connecting with the remote, reading a lot of manuals on sharing devices amoung Domoticz hosts and how to configure but no succes so far. Any suggestions?

Switch both to beta as there are big changes in beta in device sharing. See also this announcement viewtopic.php?t=41240

Thanks for the extremely fast response! Going to upgrade my remote also to the Beta this morning and shall report the outcome.

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
Did an upgrade to the Beta version (build: 15817) on my Domoticz remote. After a little while the remote P1 Smart Meter devices appeared in the devices list on the Domoticz master. Added the devices and there they were in the 'Utility' tab. Succes!!
A question pops up: the amount of data displayed (past year) on the remote isn't transfered to the master. Is there a solution for it?
Nevertheless, thanks for the help!

I don't think transfer history is and was part of the device sharing functionality.
If you want to limit showing devices to certain users just create a user and give him/her access to the P1 Meter on the master. No need to share it to another Domoticz instance.

The possibility to force a full re-sync of all data would be an extremely welcome feature which I'm lots of users would appreciate and it's been discussed as well previosly.

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
What would be the use case then?
I probably don't understand the use case of device sharing in general... As why you would have multiple Domoticz instances in your house, and if so just connect to the different instances directly.

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
The reason for having device sharing is that i have one RpiZ as domoticz slave unit in another building which recieve input from pulse readers which the domoticz master unit in the main building is pulling including that I have another RpiZ as slave in the basement which also recieve input from pulse readers, which as well my Domoticz master unit is pulling as well.
The primary use case for forced data sync, is that when the Domoticz master goes offline, for what ever reason, you will have a gap in the data collection from the domoticz slave, and for this it would be good to have an option on the domoticz master to verify whether it's missing any data for the slave units for a specific device.

Well, that is a very specific use case. Normally you would connect an esp or something similar to those pulse counters and send the data to the Domoticz server. Setting up an extra Domoticz server for solely counter measurement is overkill.

It is not possible to transfer historic data from the master to the client.

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
Could you recommend an esp to use for what you recommend how it should be done?
Also, what was the original intention with Domotics allowing for master and slave units?

Not possible today I get that but is there anything that would stopp such feature being implemented beside lack of time, resources, and plenty of other things to be done for Domoticz? Is there a way to get more attention on such feature if a ticket was upvoted?

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
What would be a recommended setup for retrieving pulse counter data via esp? I'm currently using the S0 Pulse Meters from SOS Solutions which are far from stable as the stop working once a while, typically after 30-40 days and only way to get them to work is to unplug the S0 Pulse meter from the Rpi to get it to work again (and yes I've contacted the vendor who have stopped responding to my emails). Additionally, at least one more user has confirmed having the same issues with these pulse readers. So need something else.

I cannot recommend a setup but you could take a look at for examplekimhav wrote: ↑Monday 29 January 2024 11:26What would be a recommended setup for retrieving pulse counter data via esp? Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
I have exactly the same issue and use case as mentioned by @kimhav. I am monitoring power consumption at my home. I have a main electric switchboard in the main building with S0 measuring consumption connected to my master RPi. In another building, some 25-30 meters away, I have an electric sub-switchboard with another S0 connected to a slave RPi. I retrieve the data from the slave to the master over a LAN (TP) connection. I am not familiar with ESP so I am not sure if it is an option, but I have stability issues every moon where I need to remove power from the Pi to get it back to reporting again.

Re: Sharing P1 Smart Meter USB between remote and master
To go back to the issue: Device sharing for P1 should work. In latest stable 2024.3 there were some fixes due to buffer size.
BUT, there will be new devices created in Domoticz due to the new device sharing code, so check your device list (menu setup - devices) for new devices and activate them. With the Domoticz replacement function (in device widget edit button) you can get the history of the old device into the new.
