How to find new ZWave devices in Domoticz?

For devices supporting the Auto Discovery feature. Like ZWaveJS2MQTT, Zigbee2MQTT.

How to find new ZWave devices in Domoticz?

Post by skevik1 »

I have several devices in ZWaveJS-UI that can be seen under the control panel. Some of these are also discovered in Domoticz with MQTT Automatic Discovery.
When I change the names of some of the zwave devices in ZWaveJS-UI the names are not changed in Domoticz. Also, some of the devices can't be found in Domoticz, even though some of the devices are visible. It also seems like some of the devices are not coming in at all under "Devices" in Domoticz.

What is wrong? How can yo see new or name changed devices?

I've been struggling with this zwave2mqtt for a week now. It's driving me crazy!

Nothing is wrong.
Firstly, when the MQTT-AD in domoticz is started and it discovers devices, only switch types are directly created (if you enabled accept new hardware/devices under Settings)
All other devices are created when received (like temperature sensors)
And once they are in the Domoticz system (by using the (default)name attribute received by zwavejs-ui, they keep this name.
Makes sense, if you name it 'Indoor temp' it should keep this name.
So my advice is, do all naming first in zwavejs-ui, then add the MQTT-AD hardware in Domoticz

Ok thanks for reply.
I have done all the naming in zwavejs-ui, but for some reasons (like I didn't know what the actual name on each device should be), I had to set or change the name of the device after they were discovered by Domoticz.
So the question is how can I change the name of the device afterwards and how will the new devices, that I add after the first auto discovery, be re-discovered in Domoticz? Isn't this possible to do?
I can change the name of the device in Domoticz, under "Devices" or "Switches" for example. But the name in zwavejs-ui will be the old name, not corresponding to that in Domoticz. And like I mentioned, new devices in zwavejs-ui will not show up in Domoticz.
