IM200/IM210 Imaginitronix Temprature Sensor

Post by Eloque »

While looking for a cheap temperature sensor, I've stumbled up on these on eBay;

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Wireless-Thermom ... 3a887999c4

But I can't find out anywhere if they are compatible. Now, my Rfxtrx433e did pick my current, no-name, temperature and rain sensor outside, so I am kinda optimistic about these. Bearing in mind that I a quite new at this, I spend quite some time searching, but couldn't find any answer. Does anyone know if it is compatible?

For that price i would just buy one and try it. Someone has to be the first :lol:

And if it isn't working after you tried, you could contact RFXCOM to see if they can get it working. That way, maybe in the next firmware for the RFXTRX433E it will be supported.

But could be a chance that is just working fine. Many devices use common available chipsets.

You know, I might. But, since I want one in every room of the house, that does mean I'd need what about 6 or 7 for those. That does start to become expensive.
I do wonder if they ID themselves in a unique way and if it's possible to actually use multiples.

I bought 3, if they work out of the box fine, if not, I'll donate one to the developers to see if they can make it work.

That's the spirit 8-)

Chances are good that they are working out of the box. If i search for 'imagintronix 433' at Google, i find a lot of results, but mostly about soil sensors. But maybe protocol is the same.
Pay attention to the brand name, it is 'imagintronix', not 'imaginitronix'

Temperature accuracy: +/-1.0°C
Only it's not really accurate...

For that price, what can I expect? We'll see if it's good enough. If not, I can always upgrade. For now, we'll see.

I searched on eBay for the cheapest wireless temperature sensor i could find. In China, 'wireless' translates to: battery operated, instead of transmits over RF :P But i managed to find one that sends temperature over 433Mhz RF.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Outdoor-wireles ... 1434917342

Temperature + humidity, for $9,99. Maybe buy&try that one as well? I don't need any temperature sensors, otherwise i would have bought it, and see if it would work.

Or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sensors-For-128 ... 1702862992 ($10.99, only temperature).

Okay, I've received them, and they don't show up automagically. Is there anything I can do to debug, trace, test etc? I've only used the webinterface so far.

If you have a Windows PC (or virtual machine) you can plug the RFXCOM into your PC and fire up RFXmngr (see RFXCOM website for download) and see what signals it gets from the temperature sensor.
May take a while because the sensor is not constantly transmitting. Maybe pulling out the batteries and putting them in shortens the waiting time :P

Then make a screenshot of the data you gathered and send it to b_weijenberg (guy behind RFXCOM if i stand correctly) http://www.domoticz.com/forum/memberlis ... ofile&u=87 or send an email to [email protected]

So, just start up the manager, plug in the sensors batteries, and wait till something shows up in the yellow block?

And is then this what I am looking for;

0903040826CA39BBFFE4
Packettype = UNDECODED RF Message
UNDECODED LACROSSE:26CA39BBFFE4

Yes, i think so. Must say i haven't done it myself (i mostly buy hardware that is already supported) but read a few times that you can do it that way.

LaCrosse is already supported i thought. Go to Setup > Hardware in Domoticz, and click on the 'Set mode' at the RFXCOM line. You should be able to tick the 'LaCrosse' box then.
Pull out the batteries&again or wait a while, and maybe the device will appear at Setup > Devices.... If it does, you can add it to your used devices by clicking the green arrow behind it.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Now I am also getting undecoded oregon;

Code: Select all

10-1-2015 15:21:25= ------------------------------------------------
0903040626C99D9FFDC0
Packettype        = UNDECODED RF Message
UNDECODED LACROSSE:26C99D9FFDC0
10-1-2015 15:21:51= ------------------------------------------------
0C0308073D1A2D10EB90135006
Packettype        = UNDECODED RF Message
UNDECODED OREGON2:3D1A2D10EB90135006
And I have ticked both Oregon and La Crosse, so I am starting to think it is not supported.

Could be that one of your neighbors has a Oregon/LaCrosse weather station, and you are now picking up that data (free weather data, yay :lol: )

Maybe you could screw off the antenna of the RFXCOM, so it only receives signals from very nearby (try if it still can receive one of your working transmitters (light switch or something).

I tried pulling and putting the batteries. Batteries in, unit shows up. Batteries out, it doesn't, I am leaning towards thinking that those units are indeed the ones behind the Undecoded RF Messages.

Then drop the guy(s) from RFXCOM a mail/PM with the information you found (provide as much info as possible, such as type etc.) and hope they can implement it.
Maybe even try opening a sensor to see what chips are used... maybe it can help them.

I took one apart, not much to see. No markings, a crystal, a led, sensor on the other side. Also, it also shows up on the RX as Viking. Now running through all possible matches.

Unfortunately, this was a bust. The thing is not supported and the RFX dev team is quite busy at the moment, so doesn't have the time to reverse engineer it if I would send it.
I am going to check with the shop and manufacturer, but for now, it's doesn't look good.
