Upgrading Raspberry Pi can not move Domoticz

Post by JackVeraart »

I have 2 uSD cards.
One 'old' with an updated Domoticz Version: 2022.1 Build Hash: c9526851b on buster and I want to upgrade to bullseye so I have a 2nd 'new' uSD card for that and have already a lot running like on the 'old' one. pivpn, minidlna and some other things and now I want to get Domoticz from the old card to the new one and installed Domoticz by 'sudo curl -L https://install.domoticz.com | sudo bash'. Empty Domoticz runs fine but I want my old stuff. I made a backup in Domoticz on the old card which landed in de the downloads folder on my linux laptop as Domoticz.db. I also have a copy of all the plugins. So now I moved all the plugins to the new domoticz/plugins folder and restarted the new Domoticz and would able to Hardware with them. I see them in the dropdownbox but I do not use them because I want to restore the database. Now when I browse to the backuop I made and try a restore Domoticz does not like this. Restarting does not help. I get a domoticz_crash.log. I tried the old card and that is still running Domoticz fine so the backup should be fine also. I also tried a reinstall on the new one, stopped Domoticz and copied the plugins again and copied the backup Domoticz.db to domoticz.db directly. Same result. I stopped domoticz and copied the whole old tree from the old uSD to my linux laptop, inserted the new uSD with the new domoticz, stopped that domoticz off course and copied the complete tree to the new uSD. also generates a domoticz_crash.log.

Can someone help me please ?

Example of a domoticz_crash.log :
gdb: warning: Couldn't determine a path for the index cache directory.

Hello @JackVeraart,

Domoticz is currently incompatible with Bullseye.
See the various posts in this forum.

Hello @FireWizard,
Thanks for the fast response but......Auw, so sad to hear that.
So it will not run at all, also not when I just add the Hardware in the new setup and forget about my history?
Did not look for Bullseye issues yet but maybe you know when Bullseye will be supported ?

It is worked on but a lot of work as complete python framewerk has to be evaluated and a lot of parts rewritten.
For more info take a peek in the following topic: https://domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37376
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to the new version.

Is there a way to get a notification when it is available, maybe for beta testing ?
I can always get an extra uSD card to make a test installation.
Since I am retired I have some spare time available.....

Subscribe to the other topic and you will be notified if someone updates the topic. Hopefully also with the message that it is solved in a beta release.

@JackVeraart There’s also a very recent Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy) version Buster.
You can find this version here https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/operating-systems/
Maybe you can try this version and see if the Python plugins works.
Blah blah blah

@HansieNL
many thanks for the good suggestion to install on Buster.
I know that Domoticz will work on that because that is what was running on my Pi before and is still running on my other Pi. I will stick with Bullseye on this one and wait (im)patiently for Domoticz to become available on Bullseye. I already have samba, minidlna, openvpn, apache, mariadb and other stuff running and am now busy to get Nextcloud 23.0.1 up and running with PHP 8.0.
Thanks again!!
