MQTT on Sonoff S20 spontaneously diabled

Post by McMelloW »

Sonoff S20 with Tasmota 10.0.0
Domoticz Build 13872
Raspberry Pi 3B+ Raspbian 10 (Buster)

Since a couple of days MQTT is disabled on my Sonoff S20 switches on a mysterious way. As far as I know this has to be done by the configuration GUI of Sonoff device using the direct IP address of this device.

Anybody a clue what is going on?

Hi, I have the same problems with a couple of my tasmota driven sonoffs.
After a while the MQTT part is gone from the config and the device is not sending MQTT messages anymore.
In the webinterface of that device all other seems to be working.
IF I restart such a device, all config seems te be gone, including the wifi config.
The sonoff comes online in default AP mode and I have to reconnect it to my network and restore a backup with the config.

I looks like such a device did have a couple of kernel exceptions before it looses config

I have approx 15 sonoff tasmotas running

When I open the webGUI via the (static) IP address of the SONOFF device and click at the information, I see MQTT Disabled.
Then Configuration => Configure Other I see the MQTT checkbox is blank. Tick this for enabled and Save the MQTT configuration is back again.

Still don't know what or who is disabling MQTT is the devices.

See this issue https://giters.com/arendst/Tasmota/issues/13700
It seems sammyke007 has the same problem as we are facing. But I don't know how to join this discussion

When you use the shortcut < IP address Sonoff device > /co? you are straight at the correct page.

yeah, I must wait for the next one ...
AND yes, I also get a lot of exceptions.

I bumped into the github discussion since that is the correct place for this

Yesterday, I downgraded 4 of my 5 Sonoff devices to Tasmota 9.5.0 No problems since, fingers crossed.
The 1 on Tasmota 10.0.0 has no problems for the last 24 hours.

This happened to me too indeed. It drove me crazy! When downgrading 8/10 devices back to 9.5.0, the error / crash showed up less frequently.
I downgraded the last 2 devices also to 9.5.0 and all of my Sonoffs seem to be stable for now. I guess from the moment you upgrade 1 of your devices to 10.0.0, sooner or later you'll get this problem. I'll ask to re-open the ticket.

BTW: as soon as MQTT gets disabled, there seems to happen a corruption. Check (before restarting the corrupted devices) your bootcount in the information page, it'll be an abnormal high value (eg 24572 instead of 10). Also check your console page, it'll spam RSL messages every second instead of the 5 minute STAT messages. Restarting the devices helps most of the times, but sometimes a simple restart results in a complete wipe of the device...

That is a strange one, perhaps it is related to your broker ..
I am running mosquitto on raspberry os and I never saw that problem.
Sonoff/Tasmota devices always automaticly reconnect after some network interrupt or reboot ...

The problem in this topic is that Sonoff/Tasmota devices loose (part of) there config after some crash in the Tasmota software ...
