Zigbee devices "loosing" connection to the network

Post by rizzah »

Hi,

I have switched my network from Zwave to Zigbee, after having some issues with the controller and link quality i got a pretty stable zigbee network (it seems). However, when adding devices to the network i see in the zigbee2mqtt map overview they are all connected (either to controller or to other powered devices which act as router. All good. For some reason after a day or so (maybe sooner, i can't really tell) devices in the map overview seem to lose the connection (at least, there is no line drawn from the device to any router/controller anymore). See picture for example.

My question, Is this normal behaviour? Because the device without a line does not seem to interact with the network anymore.

First question is do you receive updates from those PIR devices?
Those Xiaomi devices should be included at the location where there final destination in the house is.
Those are known not to switch easily away from the first router they connect to.
You have a router in the 'Bijkeuken" near that device the "Sensor Bijkeuken" should be included.
Try to exclude, reset the PIR, remove battery for some time and include again nearby the "SmartPlug Bijkeuken"
That might take some effort as those Xiaomi devices seem to remember what there first connection was.
I had the same kind of trouble, but at the end all worked well. ;)

P.S. On the other picture you had a LQI 6 to the coordinator, so first include was nearby the coordinator....

I can try to do what you propose. However, the example you given above, i did add that one near the router, it was added with a (dotted) line in the map of zigbee2mqtt to that router, but for some reason the line is just gone. It also happens with "Slaapkamer" sensor, it was added once with a dotted line to the "overloop router", today (after a reset) it got added to the controller with a straight line, and when i look now, there is no line at all anymore.

It also acts up weird, to answer your first question. Sometimes i do see the "on" motion in the domoticz log, but then nothing happens, sometimes it does not show up at all. Rarely it does what the dzvents script tells it do on the "on" motion. It seems to be fully random. I also tried a new motion sensor, it did not help.

Don't give much credit to those numbers and lines. It is a mesh network. Does the device do what it is supposed to do.
But Xiaomi is known for the above not switching to an other router.
Like I wrote "On the other picture you had a LQI 6 to the coordinator, so first include was nearby the coordinator..."

And always wait 24 hours after a restart of zigbee2mqtt, some device don't send full info every time.
I have some Ikea switches which only respond with full info (like battery and LQI) once every 24 hours
