Any experience with Aeotec Trisensor?

Post by Anatolis »

Hi all,

I was just curious if anyone has any experience with the Aeotec Trisensor? Running some searches here on the forum or a LMDDGTFY does not wip up any (meaningful) results for me
Of course I can find their 6-in-1 sensor, which seems to have its troubles with Domoticz (though works some how), but nothing of their Trisensor.
The only thing I see as a major difference is that the Trisensor uses a S2 security protocol for Zwave?

Btw, Running Domoticz on my Pi with the Aeotech Zwave Gen5 stick.

Any comments are welcome :-)

Hi Anatolis,

I have purchased a Trisensor and installed it today. Unlike all my other hardware from Aeotec it was somewhat of a drag getting this to work properly.
Had to restart Domoticz and incluse/excluse the sensor several times. This is weird at the least, because my controller is a GEN5 USB-stick and normally all stuff from Aeotec runs smoothly.

Furthermore, the 'burglar' and the Alarm type Burglar respond to motion, the rest doesn't do anything (yet).
The temperature sensor only shows up when you adjust parameter 7 in the settings of the Trisensor. It is set to 239 (23,9 degrees) as the triggerlevel for reports. I have set it to 100 (10 degrees) and it showed up in my devices screen. I reckon the people at Aeotec live in the tropics

I have set parameter 2 in the settings of the Trisensor to 20 secs, it is set to 30 secs default. The burglar (motion) switch is shown as a normal switch, you have to change it to motion sensor type on the switch tab so it acts normally.

Hope this helps!

How did you change parameter 7??

Once the node is awake you can. However, this is very difficult as well, it is slow and if you refresh node info it can take a few hours before it responds.
I bought it as a test because it's cheaper then the multisensor, however i will stick to the multi as it's not worth the headache :)

I am also having problems with the trisensor. The Aeotec xwave gen 5 plus seems to be alive and well but I don't see the sensors in the trisensor. I'm using an RPi4. The flashing LEDs indicate that the trisensor and the stick are paired. Any thoughts?
