I've had Monit running in the background for a long time. Since today I had sudden reboots, because domoticz was offline according to Monit.
I do not know why. I'll have to find that out.
But because off this I had a look at Watchdog too. Watchdog uses the raspberry pi hardware to force a reboot. If I understand this well. But a reset by watchdog is not a clean reboot. Monit is able to manage services and stop them if possible.
Would it be a good idea, or totally not, to use them both? Watchdog on the hardware / low level and monit on services? Or do I misunderstand how this works?

Watchdog and M/Monit
Domoticz 2020.1 (12230) on Raspberry Pi 3B with Raspian Buster. Besides Domoticz, Rpi is running Pi-Hole.

Does anyone had an opinion on this?

Re: Watchdog and M/Monit
I used Watchdog some years ago.
I do not now anymore why I discarded the Watchdog solution.
Watchdog is more for System and Hardware.
I use Monit to monitor and restart if necessary services.
I only use Monit now.
