I tried some other options in the list as well. Same error as above or succes, but no counter added.

As expected no counter added. I tried other ports in the list, but none with succes: same error as above or no error but no counter added.

Any other suggestions?

could it have to do with the fact that I am using a S0PCM-2 and not a S0PCM-5? I am trying to get some clues out of the code from the domoticz repository on Github and it strikes me that the output of 5 meters seem to be hard coded. In the case of S0PCM-2 the frame consists of only 2 readings, maybe that is what goes wrong?

Is S0PCM-2 compatible with Domoticz?

Solved!

The setup instructions in this wiki https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/S0Meter set me on the wrong foot. They imply that if you connect everything right the counter will appear in the menu. In my case there were two additional steps necessary:
1. Change ' Accept new hardware/sensor' to active in the settings/settings menu (I think most users will have this on ' inactive')
2. Find the device in the list of (unused) devices and Add it as a 'used' device

Logical steps, but easily forgotten. Thanks again for the support.

The information is already present:
not without reason that wiki-chapter has a specific section called Pay attention!
Set1 = RPI-Zero+RFXCom433+S0PCM+Shield for BMP180/DS18B20/RS485+DDS238-1ZNs
Set2 = RPI-3A++RFLinkGTW+ESP8266s+PWS_WS7000
Common = KAKUs+3*PVLogger+PWS_TFA_Nexus
plus series of 'satellites' for dedicated interfacing, monitoring & control.

Pay attention!
For further selection & activation in Domoticz, it is required that at least one operational S0-interface is connected to the S0PCM. Then the S0PCM-application gets input for starting, for the operational S0-interface(s) you will see the active counter(s) of the S0PCM under 'Devices' and counter(s) can be selected for application. Without an input through an active S0-interface, the counters do not appear.
I do not see what you mean. The 2 steps (accept sensors/hardware & make device active) are not mentioned. Do we look at the same wiki?

We are looking at the same wiki.

Code: Select all

for the operational S0-interface(s) you will see the active counter(s) of the S0PCM under 'Devices' and counter(s) can be selected for application. Without an input through an active S0-interface, the counters do not appear.
This text in other & more words means:
- after you have inserted the S0PCM selection under 'Hardware'
- and if the S0PCM-counter has been identified by Domoticz as being active S0-interface

Code: Select all

Without an input through an active S0-interface, the counters do not appear.
=> then such counter will show under tab Devices as 'green' device

Code: Select all

you will see the active counter(s) of the S0PCM under 'Devices'
=> then you can switch the green device to blue to become part of your collection of active devices

Code: Select all

counter(s) can be selected for application.
