Controlling Becker RF shutters from Domoticz

Post by wlevels »

Hi all,

It's a pretty specific scenario, but does anybody control their Becker RF shutters from their Domoticz environment?
Becker has it's own RF signal, so you can't really use any general solution for this as far as I know.

You could probably modify an RF remote so it can be switched by a Z-wave switch or something like that, however that would be some custom work.
I noticed there is a Becker RF Transmitter that seems to be controllable from a normal wall switch, it's the Becker VC421.

It looks to me that it should be possible to just connect a Z-Wave switch to the Becker VC421 and pair the VC421 by RF to the Becker shutters.

I'm almost sure this should work but I contacted Becker and they think it doesn't work, but it looks to me that they are thinking way to advanced and it doesn't reach them that a Z-wave switch acts exactly like a normal wall switch. They only hear Domotica and they freak out and say it's not possible.

Added a picture from the Becker VC421 manual. As I can see it should be just switchable by a Z-Wave switch with 230V

Thanks!

(by the way in the picture the switch is a time scheduled unit by Becker, so it should be swapped with a general Z-wave switch unit)

To answer my own question, I just ordered the unit and it worked just fine with a Qubino double relay switch.

Hi wlevels,

I also have several shutters with wireless motors from Beckers and also want to integrate them into Domoticz. Can you answer some questions for me?

The VC421 only controls a single motor right? I want to control two motors independently and as far as I can see I would need two VC421 for this, each with their own double relay switch. Can you confirm this?

With the picture you added, the VC421 is connected to the Zentral up/down connections, I assume the individual connections are unused in your case because this would bypass domotic?

Hi Verdeel,

It was on my todo to update this topic that I got it working. I did not had a chance to actually optimize my current set-up, I just have a double relay switch, added the two relay switches as separate switches in Domoticz for the time being.

I paired both my shutters to a single VC however I can only control them combined. I don't need the option to control them separately but if you would, you need separate VC's per shutter with it's own double relay switch.

I will take Some pictures when I'm back from holiday next week, I was only able to control the shutters using the Zentral switches as far as I can remember. I just configured a switch active time long enough for the shutters to be fully open or fully close from the opposite position.

Hi wlevels,

thanks for this information, it is greatly appreciated. Based on your info I think I'm going to start with using a single VC421 for both shutters, as this will save me a bunch of money that can more usefully be spent on other domotics hardware. Thanks for the suggestion.

to program the VC421 I would only need the remote, the vc421 connected to double relay and ofcourse power on the shutter motor?

Attached how I connected my (single) VC421 with a dual switch. If you have any questions just let me know.

I solved this by buying a Centronics USB stick and using this Python script from Ole: https://github.com/ole1986/centronic-py
I'm now happily controlling 5 roller shutters from Becker.

Hello,

I am a bit of a noob here orientating in the use of Domoticz. I have Becker roller shutters as well which I want to control.

The Centronics USB Stick looks like a very simple and also not so expensive solution to integrate the roller shutters in the domotica.

I had a look on the website you're pointing at but what I don't understand is how to control the stick.
Is it supported in Domoticz and easy to setup?
