Zigbee signal strength

Post by rizzah »

Hi all,

Recently i bought 2 outdoor Osram light strips (gen2). This generation is able to pair with the Philips Hue bridge using the Hue app. And indeed, this worked (yay!), saved me a lot of money. I use them for a wooden roof i have in the back on the garden (approx 40 meters from the Hue Bridge.

THe problem i am having is that the lights do not always respond well. Sometimes both work when turning on, but later can't be turned of, or one is working and the other one is not, or they turn on but won''t respond to any commands (like color changes).

My first thought was that the signal isn't strong/stable enough because of the distance between Hue bridge and the lights, but im not sure about that. I have read somewhere that these "external" lights outside of the Hue lamp family won't be taking in the mesh network from Hue. So thought id buy another Zigbee device (Innr on/off plug) outside the Hue lamp family hoping it would work as a bridge between the Hue Bridge and the outdoor lights. Sadly this did not help.

Can anyone suggest me something which would help my outdoor lights to function properly?

Regards,
Peter

Hello, by curisosity your Osram strips use ZLL or ZHA zigbee ? Do you know if since Philips hue use zigbee3.0, they still have compatibilities problem with ZLL/ZHA ?
Your application haven't something to check links quality (40 meter is a great distance) ?
