Admin Web Page for Plugin

Post by pipiche »

Currently we have the Python Plugin Framework to develop plugin in a quiet independent way , which bring flexibility on the development side and which also reduce the load of the Domoticz.

However, there is no easy way to Administrate a such developed plugin through a web interface.

In order to enhance it and bring such functionality, I was thinking to use the www/templates environment of domoticz to put some plugin related pages. However from those page we cannot access plugin data (store on the plugin folder).

Can we envision the possibility to add an extra parameter in the Python Plugin Framework which could point to a Plugin Admin Web page ?

I handle such things with a json or txt file in the plugin directory. So whenever i need a persistent value or change a value, i use that file. The plugin creates the txt file on onstart, and read it accordingly whenever required. If you want to change some value, open txt file, change value and save. restart the plugin and it is there. If you put read file on onheartbeat then you also never need to restart the plugin. Just a suggestion.

So do we, but that required the end user to edit the file. I wanted to move to a more elaborated User Interface, where eventually we could also display some graphs ... So the needs to have a real Admin UI for the plugin
