2 cameras on motioneye problem

Post by Docdev »

Hi
I have 2 RPi zero cameras running on motioneye. They are configured so I can see both when I log into motioneye.
I tried to add them to Domoticz using Aurora and display them on the dashboard. When I added the 1st camera plus a dummy switch and image url picture/1/current it worked fine but when I try to add the 2nd camera and dummy switch and picture/2/current I get no 2nd camera display on the dashboard.
When I click the camera icon in setup/cameras I can see both feeds.
Do I have to separate the cameras into individual cameras & IP Addresses or is there something I have missed?
Any help appreciated.

Hi heggink

On my test environment I added both cameras from motioneye shown below using image url: picture/1/current/ & picture/2/current/. Both test buttons work fine.
Camsetup.jpeg
Camsetup.jpeg (26.15 KiB) Viewed 3343 times
I then created 2 dummy switches and added one to each camera.
When I go into switches I see both switches with a camera icon. When I click the icon I see the camera views.
I then enabled the favorite button to add them to the dashboard.
When I go to the dashboard 1 camera displays fine and one shown no picture. If i click the camera icon on the failed camera it does show picture correctly.
Appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Can I check one more thing: are you running the camera's as fast network camera's?
There are a few other threads where it's clear that there are difficulties using motioneye with domoticz.
I can add the cameras myself and the test button works but after that, nothing works at all

I have seen a workaround where I can use my motioneye server output (I have 2 cameras in fast network mode with motioneye server running on my NAS as the raspberry pi zero connected to the camera just isn't fast enough to do proper motion detection) but that then means that I have 2 camera's streaming video to my NAS and my NA then re-streaming the same video to domoticz in order to work with domoticz. That means triple the network bandwidth just to add these to domoticz which is bad practice.

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution but am still trying to figure out why I can't just add the cams myself. Let's see if we can collectively solve this issue.

Crap: just solved it: all I needed to do is read as the post clearly indicates to remove the LEADING SLASH which is exactly what you had as well.
Clear case of RTFM...

Then did exactly what you described below: 3 separate switches, one per cam, added to the dash and, for me, everything works. Then again, I run the regular dash, not aurora, so I need to find the time to dig into that.
