Xiaomi Gateway - devices compatibility

Post by TroLoo »

Hello Everyone, I'm planning quite big installation of Xiaomi switches in my house, around 30 switch all together.

I'm a little bit worried - constantly changing firmware on Gateway might break things up between all the devices and Domoticz... what do you think, is there a reason to be worried? I would feel much safer if there was any alternative to connect all the Zigbee devices to (SmartThings could be a start). I've heard of incoming product, Xiaomi USB Zigbee Dongle, but it's still more a rumour rather than a fact.

I've looked at the list of compatible devices here:
https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Xiaomi_Gateway_(Aqara)

And found these:
Wireless Aqara Switch (Dual Button) Buy online
Wireless Aqara Switch (Single Button) Buy online
Wired Aqara Switch (Dual Button) Buy online (uses UK Wall Box)
Wired Aqara Switch (Single Button) Buy online (uses UK Wall Box)

I've already successfully added and scripted Wireless Dual Button Switch, it works quite well so far. Unfortunately it didn't go too well with Wired Single Button Switch - it's been added to Xiaomi App but it doesn't show at all in Domoticz. I'm on the most recent beta version with newest Gateway firmware.

Why is that so? Did a new firmware break things up? One time I've seen unrecognised device in log...

I have 1 single and 4 dual button wired Aqara switches.
They work for me in the latest beta Domoticz. The Xiaomi gateway firmware is the latest too.
The only problem is that the battery level is 110% (reported voltage is always 3300).

I have configured the right button on the dual button switch as a wireless button in the Xiaomi App.
So I have 2 devices in Domoticz - light switch for the left button and selector switch for the right button.
Note the correct device type.

What beta version did you have? I am on 3.8153 and I have 2 separate devices for my No Neutral wired double switch in domoticz. However, when I configured one or both buttons to be wireless in Mi Home App, I never got the Selector switch in domoticz at all, just the 2 on/off switch devices

If you don't want to depend on Xiaomi gateway and Chinese server, especially in your case with large number of their switches I would go on special zigbee router that natively supports Xiaomi sensors but whole automation doesn't depends on Xiaomi servers but this is performed locally in your network.
Search for Mixtile router on Indiegogo
