OTGW use with remote session
Hi All,
I have actually 2 questions.
My first question is about controlling the OTGW with a remote domoticz.
Let me explain my situation first.
I have 2 raspberry pi 3. One downstairs in the meter cabinet and the other one on the 2nd floor next to the boiler /cv.
My raspberry downstairs is my main domoticz and the other one is remote.
When I try to set the room temperature from the remote (the domoticz upstairs) it works. (although it will take a few minutes to see the change on the thermostat on the wall) But when I set the temperature on the main domoticz (downstairs) nothing happens.
Is this just a thing that doesn't work like this?
Other question is more for my curiosity.
When I set the temperature with domoticz I get a (new) symbol in the display of the thermostat.
Does anyone have a good explanation for this symbol (see picture) ? I could not find it in the manual.

I use it in the following way:
On the raspberry next to the boiler I run ser2net. (creates a LAN device of a local USB device)
Domoticz has a hardware device called OTGW LAN.
Your main pi can connect to the ser2net remote port and voila. OTGW messages in your main domoticz installation.
Although your solution should also work, however I don't have experience with remote domoticz installations.

Another idea would be to create a virtual thermostat on your primary domoticz and have it talk to the remote domoticz Pi via json calls.
But if the remote server functionality would work you were not looking at these work arounds. I have to agree with you.

I am running roughly the same setup as you do and it is working without any problems.
Master: RPi 3 with Domoticz v3.8153 in the meter cabinet
Slave: RPi (first version) with Domoticz v3.8153 in the attic next to te boiler. This one has the OTGW connected to it through USB.

Are there any messages in the Domoticz log when you change the temp from the master?

As for the sharing. I have read the wiki but will read again..
As I just read it again I see nno issue as both of my raspberry's are identical (hardware and OS) But I will check this little/big when I am home just to be absolutely sure
I don't see errors when setting the temperature on the master domoticz. (it just isn't doing anything)

And I also have some issue with remote domoticz (not getting all of my sensors to the master..
Have it for a long time and given up on the solution.

I think indeed it should work. However for me for now I have a flawless solution and don't need a second domoticz installation. That requires maintenance and updates.

Ok I finally found the time to look into this and my o my ... This was easy...
it works like a charm...
one question though

(explanation: I set the room temperature to 23 and I will see this on the display on the thermostat after 2 minutes.)

Ok. I Guess this is the famous Boiler/Thermostat acceptance thing.
You can check it by instead of using ser2net you run the OTMonitor on the client pi and temporarily relay the messages via OTMonitor to Domoticz.
- You set the thermostat in domoticz
- You can see the temperature override in otmonitor & domoticz
- After that it takes some time before the boiller / temperature accepts it and shows it in the top part..
But fun part is with OTMonitor you can see what happens.
It works that is the best thing.

You can check it by instead of using ser2net you run the OTMonitor on the client pi and temporarily relay the messages via OTMonitor to Domoticz.

It will show TT20 for example in domoticz log.
You can switch to otmonitor and will see TT20 as the domoticz log gets this from otmonitor.
After a while you will see the requested temperature appear in temp override field.
It seems all is working as requested but for your confidence just check it.
revert back to ser2net afterwards. It will work. Has been working here for several years.
