Controlicz - Domoticz to Google Home/Assistant integration
Hi all -
am working on integrating Controlicz (the Alexa skill) with Google Home. It's difficult to work on, as i don't have a google home!
If anyone's interested in helping out with some testing - let me know

happy to do some testing on my home, also looking at getting a home mini soon. I found when testing the nodered/ifttt solution that assistant on my phone is very close, less the talk back.

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
HI Wob.
I use the IFTTT and dom/Nodered to send pushover notifications to the phone via GA.
I then use tasker and tasker notifications to only read out the pushover messages, works just the same as the google home solution.
Regards

Hi Bradds,
I think you mentioned that to me in the other thread, I don't have to much need for it so I haven't implemented it yet, it would be nice to have something made for Google Assistant, but the API is a bit beyond my skill set.

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
I just had a power cut in my house.. so my Rpi had to reboot, -->HA bridge did a reboot, now my google home don't work anymore, normally i have to do a 're-pair' of the ha bridge (phillips hue) in the google home app.. but now it's not possible to pair anymore
i liked it very much and used it all the time, the fast response was great!
thats one of the reasons i dont want to use ifttt, the delay is just so annoying..
I hope there will soon be a new option? thats independent of the internet..
i think it would be nice if there could be a home control device in the google assistant that you can set up for mqtt or something.. or just something like the ha-bridge it worked so nice! and it was easy/fast to set up
how do you guys do it now? easy to set up?
Controlicz .. it would work like an assistant app so there would still be a delay or not?
is someone working on this:
https://developers.google.com/actions/smarthome/

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
Hi -
yes i am actually
I have written the native Alexa skill - Controlicz, and am now extending it into Google. It's currently in test - but would welcome some volunteers to assist. Controlicz delay is about 1 sec.
Currently it will discover your devices, turn on/off lights/devices/scenes/groups - set brightness of lights, set temperature, query device/scene status/temperature status.
It's still a little rough around the edges, but it's getting there.
It doesn't necessarily need a Google Home, i've been running it from 'Ok Google' on my android phone.

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
I can do some testing if you want, i do have a google home, I would use it to control switches/dimmers/scenes
but normally the google home and google assistant on the phone works the same.
If you need some helping testing it out, just let me know how i can do it.
But i'm not a programmer.. i can get around using lua, and install something on the RPI with a good explanation.. but thats about it..
btw, is your 'skill' based on this: https://developers.google.com/actions/smarthome/ ?
Regards,
Thomas

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
Hi Thomas,
yes it's using the Smarthome actions - PM me your email address, and i'll get you added.
Google run very short test phases - think it's a week - whereas Amazon allow beta tests to run for much longer.
I've submitted the app for certification, but it's definitely rough around the edges. The APIs i'd built for control and discovery were based around the Alexa API, so some on the fly refactoring for Google may be required! But i'm always happy to improve it - the Alexa skill grew based on the great feedback from the community here
and yes it runs both via Google Assistant (how i use it) and Google Home

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
I have a job
Honestly, not looking to enter a beauty parade of voice controls - if you want to use it, use it, if you don't and have a solution you're happy with, stay with that

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
it's ok - i'm a little sleep deprived today, sorry
Honestly not even looked at ifttt, i can imagine there's some latency. There's bound to be, Controlicz *may* be a little quicker, but it is more about ease of use and integration, rather than latency

Re: Google assistant/Google home integration
It works sort of
I have of course all the names of the devices in dutch and it is trying to say the name in dutch when it switch the device
We really need to have the dutch home assistant rolled out in the Netherlands but i think we need to wait until half 2018 for that
If is ask for the temperature it says it can not reach the "Tuin Temperatuur" so it seas the device but can not get the temp

You can use the device description in Domoticz to create 'Friendly Names' as per https://www.controlicz.com/FAQ.
I'll look at the temperature now
