Complete Weather Station?

Post by MatthijsD »

Hello!

I'm looking in expanding my Domoticz setup with a weather station.
Everything I already have runs on the RFXcom transceiver (433mhz) and does anyone know a suitable weather station for me?

At the least I want the following data:
Rain, wind, wind direction, temperature.
Everything extra is a good deal.

What can you recommend me?

Personally im really happy with my Netatmo weather station.
In time i expanded it with extra indoor modules (each bedroom one), a rain meter and a wind meter.
I even bought a second Netatmo base setup because i have to many bedrooms (5), a Netatmo base only supports 4 indoor units + 1 rain meter + 1 wind meter.
And, i got my base setups from Amazon.de, cost me around €90,00 per base (a base setup is one master indoor unit and one outdoor unit)

I also added the XML from buienradar so i can see the azimuth, latitude and LUX from the sun and cloud coverage.
Over 50 Z-Wave Devices (Fibaro and Neo), 4xLogitech Hub, 2xPhilips Hue Bridge+55 Lights, 1x Nest Thermostat, 2xNetatmo Weather Station, 1xSkybell v1 Doorbell, 3 Kwikset KEVO Doorlocks and Domoticz running on a Intel NUC

Wow, that sounds like something worth checking out!
Definitely going to look into that one, thanks!
Nice idea to expand into rooms, didn't thought about that one :)

I was a bit to quick, I love all the possibilities with Netatmo, but that's way over my budget ;)
Around €150,- is my budget.

Netatmo base with one outdoor unit, €118,90
https://www.amazon.es/Netatmo-NSW01-EC- ... 0098MGWA8/

Netatmo Rainmeter €45,59 (Amazon warehouse deal)
https://www.amazon.de/Netatmo-Regenmess ... 00J5OHDGG/

Total, €164,49

Only thing missing, the wind-meter, but you could allways use the buienradar windmeter until you bought your own.

(and no, i do not work for Amazon)

After doing some more searching, I came across https://www.weerstationkopen.nl/
Selling a lot of weather stations. I've contacted them and asked them which station would work with my current setup and they gave me some nice options.

I finally bought the Homewizard station: Temp, humidity, wind direction and speed and rain meter.
Domoticz found them without any effort, perfect!

Everyone, thanks for the tips!

Just looked at the link you provided, could you be more specific on which one you bought?

I use a Oregon Scientific WMR100 weather station that I found for 30 EUR on a second hand site. Works great!

Weather Underground is free. You got a lot of info from a weatherstation nearby.

Have been looking into this for a while. I need a semi-pro station which includes wind, temp, humidity, pressure and rain and the sensors should be wireless. UV is a plus but not must... So, here are my conclusions:

1. Netatmo needs optional rain and wind gauges. Together as a package the total price rockets up.
2. Davis Vantage Vue: The best, but the most expensive. Also needs a data logger.
3. Ambient Weather: Includes all sensors even UV, price is right, but the wireless range is 1-2 meters!...
4. Acurite: The best price/performance.https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-01057RM- ... t_p_ep#Ask This includes pro sensors, a color display (Which i do not really need) and a smart hub which integrates the sensors to wunderground. I can get the details to domoticz from wunderground which this system will feed, since the hub seems not allowing a local connection. The price is 170 USD, I am planning to settle with this one. It is cheaper than netatmo+ rain and wind gauges and it really feels like way more professional.

Hi Prospere:

Could you confirm if you use it (WMR100) by USB? In that case, how do you install it?

I tried with TE923 hardware but no luck.

Thanks in advance!
