What's causing the need to often have to press S2 twice to activate associated devices with Fibaro stuff?
Howdee folks,
I have a couple of Fibaro dimmers and switches (various versions) and with many of them I have S2 associated with other devices (usually another light). Now it appears to be that more often than not you have to press S2 twice (not a double click) in order to have the associated device to respond. I read ages ago that that is an issue with older firmwares in some dimmers related with the soft-start parameters but I noticed that even the new ones still have this problem. So I have this new FGS213 in a hallway and S2 is associated with a light upstairs and almost always I have to press S2 twice before the light upstairs is turned on.
I wondered if any of you see similar behavior with your devices.
Cheers,
Danny

I too have this problem. Seems strange that no one have replied to this one uless it's a hardware issue. Considering contacting Fibaro for a solution. Im using mine to control a qubino shutter. Always works, but usually have to press S2 twice in order to get a response. After pressing it twice it works with single press for a minute or so.
Did you get anywhere with this yourself?
Edit:
For information, the s2 button is used directly with accosiation to the qubino device. So it's not going thru the controller.

Not really. I have sent mail to Fibaro once before and never got an answer.

Oh, thats not good. Ill send them a mail as well. Hopefully we are not the only ones with this problem. Does this problem occur with all of your dimmers? Reading your initial post you say "couple of dimmers". How many you got?

I believe it happens with all my dimmers (and relays switches).

That sucks. Then it sounds more like a general issue with these dimmers. Fortunately I have not bought too many of them. Im still in the transition from 433 to Z-wave so i'm testing out different brands and types of dimmers/switches etc.
I thought Fibaro was the one to go with since they seem stable, lots of parameters to tweak etc. But if these kind of problems persists ill have to go for something else. The price tag is usually the same all over the different brands anyway. Thank you very much for your input.

The qubinos I have don't have the double click feature. That's why I have the Fibs.

Have you checked parameter 7. It should get the status first, to ensure it switches from on to off or vice versa.

Hi Jorgh. Not sure which device you are referring to. But my fibaro dimmer 2 does not have such an option at parameter 7. Parameter 7 on my fib device is "Dimming step at manual control". The closest option I have to what you deacribe is "22: Assign bistable key status to the device status". But I'm using a spring loaded / monostable / momentary switch so there is bistable key to sync. Or have I maybe misunderstood the option?

Btw, here's the devices manual:

Also, thank you for your input!

Re: What's causing the need to often have to press S2 twice to activate associated devices with Fibaro stuff?
On the FGD211 the option is:
7. Control key #2 behaviour:
Frame GET is send. Device status is checked before send
This makes the switch first query the status of the associated device, so it always toggles, even if it was controlled in some other way.
I could indeed not find a similar option in the manual you posted. Maybe this is now standard behaviour, as it should guarantee a proper toggle and seems like a sane thing to do. It might indeed be a bug.
In my FGD211 if I associate a device with the S2 button. I sometimes need a double click on S1 to get the dimmer to respond. This also seems to be a known error in the firmware.
I've used Qubino dimmers as I could not get the FGD211 to function properly with two led lights attached and use old fashioned bulbs on the FGD211. The dimming is however more fluent on the Fibaro than on the Qubino in my opinion. Was thinking of trying the Dimmer2, but reading the issue, I know that I will also face that in my configuration. So I'm still interested in a solution to this problem.
Regards,
Jorg
