[idea] Domoticz Home Timeline

Post by korniza »

As i use more domoticz day by day, I had a incident that I try to find what happened. I found out that is too hard to get a quick view on domoticz logs what is going on for 24 hours. I came up with the idea that if there can be a 24 hours timeline bar on the frontpage and display the activated/deactivated devices or scripts that can be a very fast way to check for patterns or what happened when a device activated (for example if light sensor triggered before a ip camera went offline).
If someone may try to build it, it could be great to select which devices can be included on the timeline.
if there is implemented, donation can be a decent thank you as I see it.

Thank you.

Could be nice, but... My lighting log has 2849 entries in 36 hours. How would you display that?
If you want a view of a single switch you already have the log button for that.

The idea is that if you have some sensors that they work to trigger alarm system (virtual switches, motion sensors, alarms, bluetooth beacons, keypads) is too hard to make a conclusion looking per device log.
That is the reason I said if can be build, to be able to select which devices to included.

An example is that I do not want to include a temperature sensor inside my fridge, but i need to have a virtual switch that is triggered if temperature raise above 12 C (start melting things inside fridge) and include it with the water sensor at the floor of my kitchen so to get a quick visual of what really happened.

I was thinking the same other day, to have a "user friendly history" (not technical).
I was thinking on custom script log from loa, so that I can log from scripts what they are doint. F.eks. "it is dark so i am marking isLights to false", and then another script would write "noticed that isLights went to false, I am turning on lights outside" etc...
Then one can read history, thus a timeline of events.
Also would donate to support the idea as I think it would help get a better overview of the events and make more stable system (and a way better WAF after you can fix things the day after).
Some events are easier to debug, but some almost impossible unless you wait a day or two or even more for event to happen.

Very nice idea! Maybe you can do something with notifications, so you can add notifications on a sensor to add to this timeline!
