List USB (ttyACM) devices by id

Post by mikkel75 »

Hi,

Please add support in the tty/serial/usb drop-down lists to select from id's instead of 'hard' ttyACM0/1/2...
The list in /dev/serial/by-id/ contains links to the appropriate ttyACMx.

This helps when the device is moved to another slot and thus can change ttyACMx -> ttyACMy and make Domoticz fail to connect.
Using ids this problem is removed.

Thanks,
Mikkel

Hi,

how about taking a different approach on that issue and assigning fixed ID's to the USB devices ?

There is a nice wiki article about that:

Hi,

Yeah I guess that could work too, but just not as user friendly :)
