New app, Zanzito: Android/MQTT bridge. Need Help!

Post by MrMep »

Hello,
I have developed a new Android app that acts as a bridge between any android device and any MQTT broker, It's called "Zanzito" and it allows you to send to your server/home automation system:

Your current location;
The values of the hardware sensors in your phone (i.e. battery level, ambient temperature, light level and so on);
Pictures from your phone (manually or at a given interval);
Any other information you want through MQTT publishing to your own custom topics. For example, you can send a message to switch a light on, or activate your home alarm system.

You can receive:
Text messages and notifications;
Audible alarms;
SMS text messages to be sent through your phone.
Any other information (including pictures) through MQTT subscriptions to your own custom topics.

You can also see a map with the locations of all users connected to your system, and a photo gallery with the last pictures sent to the system.
It supports SSL/TLS connections to the MQTT server and dual server configuration (home/not home) with auto detection.

here's is a web link: http://www.barbaro.it/cms/index.php/android

Full disclosure, I only used it with Home Assistant until now but, after reading some Domoticz documentation, I'm not sure what would be the best strategy to integrate this app into Domoticz: have it publish to in/out domoticz topics? Write a node-red script(s)?

Could someone help, please?

The app is currently in closed beta testing, if you want to partecipate please write to me at , I'll send you all the necessary info.

UPDATE (6/4/2017): the closed beta testing phase is over. Everyone can now go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ro.zanzito and download the app. Zanzito has been successfully tested with Node-Red and now supports TLS connections and voice commands.

Thanks
Gianluca Barbaro

Awesome, very useful for creating a privacy-friendly smart-home controller. I try to keep my smart home cloudless.

Thanks! Yes, I don't like cloud solutions either... Zanzito talks exclusively to your MQTT server...
Any idea about Domoticz integration?
