I just had to reboot my Pi and after that Domoticz and OpenZwave suddenly only listed about 5 of my 30+ zwave devices in the hardware listing. It is not that some device were reported dead or didn't respond (as normally shown in the logs) but they were just gone from the list!! Also from the openzwave control panel. Gone, nada, nothing.
What can I do? I did some cold restarts, soft controller resets but the devices don't come back.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Re: HELP: 80% of my devices suddenly gone
I looked with zway server and it also shows only these 5 nodes
Is there any way I could restore these devices?

Now comes the question, how well did you plan for this situation occurring...
Backup of Razberry Z-Wave network needs to be done from Z-Way software... if you logged int Z-Way recently and backed up the network configuration then your ok since you can just restore it.
If you didn't backup the network configuration, then you will likely need to re-add the devices.
I wish it we're possible to backup and restore Z-Wave ME cards from Domoticz...

Re: HELP: 80% of my devices suddenly gone
I'm afraid I haven't made a backup as of yet so guess I'm screwed here....
Well, if that's the case, then this is the moment for met to get a more modern zwave usb-stick.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if I can reset/rebind my zwave dimmers without having to open up all my wall switches.. That's what worries me the most as it is a PITA to get them back in again with all those thick wires....

Re: HELP: 80% of my devices suddenly gone
It's actually a major problem for me at the moment as well is how to backup / restore my Z-Wave network (I use the Aeon Z-Stick Gen 5 and the only way to backup and restore that is with a windows utility.

You should be ok RE the dimmers, usually 3 presses of a button is all that's needed to do a Z-Wave inclusion (depending on model) but I've found that's almost always the case. See if you can get instructions for one of them.

Ok, so now gotta figure out what a good zwave stick is that is easily upgradable and has proper backup/restore possibilities and have a large range (although my mesh is big enough right now so that shouldn't be a problem.

I didn't know about this possibility for the z-stick... But considering their product may not be used a lot under windows, they should provide a Linux based save utility as source code than may be recompiled on the different platform used by home automation (ARM based PI, various NASes, old PC that gets a second life...). And not requiring a Chinese degree: It's really a joke, for the most expensive z-wave controller on the market.ben53252642 wrote:Aeon Z-Stick Gen 5 and the only way to backup and restore that is with a windows utility.

Just read about it indeed. Gen5 only has a windows utility. But that will do for me as my Mac has a bootcamp partition running W10. Only downside is that each time I add a new device I would have to get the stick and plug it into my macWindows machine.

Re: HELP: 80% of my devices suddenly gone
Got my new Pi3+Z-stick. Even-though my old Pi lost all recollection of all my devices, I could still exclude them from the controller. Guess the exclusion protocol doesn't require the device to be registered by that controller. After that I could include them with my new stick. One thing that really surprised me is the sheer speed of the new system. I have a group that controls all the light switches in the living room and with my old setup (PiB+ + razberry) it ofter took about 30s before all the lights went out. With my new setup it is within a second. Also, I had a motion detector controlling a light switch at the landing on the first floor depending on lux levels. Usually that took a couple of seconds before the light was switched on after motion detection. Right now it is instant. Really amazing. No idea if that is because of the faster Pi, the different zwave stick or something else.
Still have one Fibaro dual relay switch that won't exclude itself from the old controller and also won't let itself do a reset. Weird...
