Fine tuning the logging of each devices

Post by Norbert »

Hello
I would much like to be able to adjuts the way domoticz logs each devices
- for certain devices I would like to completely switch off any kind of logging (eg: presence detection = very useful to activate certain functions in domoticz based on presence/absence but the log file can also be (mis)used as a "Big Brother" kind of surveillance system...)
- certain devices would need a longer log than others (eg : temperatures for the month but a light switch for a day is enough)

Fully agree. I wish I could review temperature in detail for multiple days, the same for electricity usage, both are summarized to totals only after a day.

i can agree with more fine control of the logs per device group.

However not that fine grain control is already implemented in setup/settings/log.
Where longtetm logging is controlled for switches (default 30days) and sensors/shortlog like temp/wind between 1 and 7 days (default 1 day/24hours).

Some people are satisfied with sensors on 2 or 3 days. Not sure about the impact on the sqlite db behind it on SDcard but i would recommend to switch to other kind of storage like NAS or USB-drive in that case.
