Hello experts,
I am using Domoticz V3.5731and want to run "backup" from the settings menu.
When I do that the system "locks up" from a Domoticz functionality, but the Raspi itself I still can logon and operate through putty.
but web interface stops also responding.
What can be the issue, or what log can i look at?
At one point i enabled "automatic backup" and this basically rendered my system useless. It took a lot of "fumbling around" to get in the settings menu and disable that again.
Could it be permissions on Raspi?
Do I need to configure the backup location somewhere?
Thanks,
Wim,

Re: Domoticz backup on Raspi locks up
Have you checked the linux system log? I once had a faulty SD that caused lockups.

Re: Domoticz backup on Raspi locks up
Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked all logs under Linux, and nothing indicates bad card.
I cloned the card to and also no errors during copy. (you got me worried there for a second, so a clone is always helpful)
Tried the "backup" again from the menu.
I ran "top" if i could see what is going on, and the "domoticz" process does quite nicely hog the CPU. It is not at a 100% constantly, but it nicely bounces between 40% and 85%. Web interface is dead, also remote client on android cannot connect anymore.
Can it be it is just a long and hard process and I am inpatient?
Started the backup process 20 minutes ago, no sign of change.
I am using Open zWave with Domoticz, perhaps that has some influence?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Wim,

SOLVED: - Domoticz backup on Raspi locks up
All,
To complete the post
The issues is solved. The DB had turned 8GB in size, and on a slow MicroSD it took 1 hour to backup.
So with some help on this board I figured out the reason for this 8GB DB size, and will shrink it down to "normal size". Then Backup also should work.
Have installed a second Raspberry pi and added some devices for test, there backup works without any issue.
