Garage Door Type Switch

Post by simon_rb »

Hi,

Is there a way of having Domoticz have a garage door type switch that could be compatible with Homebridge. I understand there are certain requirements in HomeKit for a garage door. If domoticz could emulate these somehow then we could ask Siri stuff like "open garage door" and "is the garage door closed?" Just an idea :-)

Thank you :-)

You want your garage door opened by a system that could be accessed from everywhere in the world?
I couldn't even think of that. I even did it the other way around: I placed a switch in series with the RF receiver contact.
So as soon as I set my home in sleep or away mode my garage door can't be opened at all. Even if you know the code or have the remote control.
Security above everything.

Is the garage door closed? Place a door contact on it and you'll know.

Your right, I use HomeKit to control mine and its tied into a dedicated raspberry Pi which opens and closes and has a contact switch that knows when the garage is closed or opened (All wired to the Pi). There is no RF involved. I also have the same thing when it will not open unless someone is at home. And even then when it does open HomeKit tells you its been opened and also closed. When I first posted on here I didn't 100% understand how Domoticz and Homebridge communicate.
