Custom Icons - Anyone found a solution to uploading Topic is solved

Hi guys,

Has anyone found a solution to the generation and uploading of custom icons?

The Custom Icon generator is still broken and Ive tried a number of ways to generate 48x48 icons, compress and then upload, but
Domiticz keeps rejecting the upload saying "archive file is to small, or there is an 'issue with extraction' etc"

Really frustrating that I'm stuck with the default icons

There is nothing wrong with the default icons. I put a lot of afford into them!
(You also can't change the icons in your switch/router can you?)

Next, this is not a Domoticz issue but the generator. Probably it generates an icon with 0 bytes (empty) (that was the latest issue)

But... because you did not attach any icon zip file, it is hard to tell.

There are also alternative websites that you can use freely to resize PNG's... and it's not that hard to make the zip file manually.

Anyway, please post the zip file, and have a look in the archive above to see if there are icons that you can use

The nice surprise from the 2025.1 update were the new icons.
( I didn't install the 2025.2 yet)

No this online icon generator does not work.

It produces Icons with 50x50 pixels, but Domoticz requires 48x48 pixels.

If you generate an icon with the online generator, you cannot upload to Domiticz server because the icons are the wrong size at the server just rejects the upload..

I' have suggested the online generator be taken down until such time as it becomes compatible. Otherwise it just confuses and frustrates users

As it is open source you could also create a PR to fix it.

I created 2 PR's for the Icon generator author and host to fix the issues (50x50 icons and empty preview). Hopefully he will merge them soon.
