My Ikea Trådfi Gateway could not cover my whole house, therefore I decided to install a normal WiFi antenna. You can of course mount the antenna on the original plastic case, but in order to save (lots of) space, I mounted this small pcd directly in my electricity cabinet. Btw. I have no idea what the other antenna does, I found that it is directly connected to ground...
This is a simple straightforward job: remove the smd resistor to disconnect the original pcb antenna, then connect the coax as shown in the pictures. There is already a small dedicated area for this. The core of the coax is connected to both indicated solder points, not needed, but it makes a better connection this way.
The connector is soldered on the Ethernet case as I could not find any other space for it...
With this setup I can control devices, 20 meters away, though concrete walls.
