Why USB and not SD on a RasPi 4 and 3?

Post by imautohuttraeger »

At the Wiki Page about the Raspberry Pi
https://wiki.domoticz.com/Raspberry_Pi

it reads
When using a Raspberry Pi 4 or 3 Model B, please consider to boot and run from an USB mass storage device instead of microSD card.
What is the reason?

I am already running Model 3 with an SD card for several years without problems and I am going to make a clean new install in order to switch from bullseye to bookworm or trixi.

That's because in general a ssd is more reliable on long term whereas also a sd card slows the proces (according my experiance)
