Dynamic Dashboards and easier theming

Post by gizmocuz »

Today in beta:

https://wiki.domoticz.com/DynamicDashboard

Hope it is working well!

The internal CSS stylesheets have also be split into variables so that theme customization should be a lot easier and forward.

It might break some custom themes, but have a look in www/styles/default (dark.css for example, or www/css/variables.cc) how to solve them.
(Or just use the default theme)

But I am more interested in the new dashboard experience...

Looks wunderful, started to play with it. Found that I don't see 'Manage Dashboards' when there is only a single one. The button appears only after creating a second dashboard by duplicating the first one.

Well done, Gizmocuz!
Just played around on a test environment (with not a lot of devices)...
I assume this is indeed appreciated by lot of Domoticz users.
Some first feedback:
  • [Bug] when kiosk mode with multiple dashboards is "playing", and then you start an edit mode, it continues "playing": suddenly I was adding widgets to the wrong dashboard... Perhaps playing should be interrupted when in edit mode
  • [wild idea] Would it be possible to add a device widget being able to specify multiple devices... Then the widget would show only a list of information from the device (eg name and value). Or even more being able to specify a new name per line (because often the name of devices start with the same text). An icon from one of the devices (first one?) could be defined. This would be able to group the devices together. I have eg different devices giving information from my car (BMW Connected Drive plugin)... Would be nice to have one group with only this information. Specifying individual device widgets takes still place, while information like "last seen", having always the same icon etc is of less value.
  • [new] Great to have a widget for battery monitoring... Why not adding one for the timedout? This is - in my opinion - more valuable than the activity list. It gives then a view on devices timedout at the glance.
Please see this as constructive! Your work and contribution to Domoticz is very very very well appreciated!
My production machine is still running 2025 version, but this is certainly a reason to upgrade and drop a dashticz dashboard I made to monitor my electric heating systems with a virtual multi room thermostat plugin I developed myself.
Again well done, congratulations and thanks.

Wow - what a progress for the platform!

Unfortunately I only had the opportunity to quickly have a look on it, but I am very curious to get deeper into it hopefully next week. Thank you!
Stop, look and listen.

Thanks all for the positive feedback !

Fixed

@Filip,
'when kiosk mode with multiple dashboards is "playing", and then you start an edit mode, it continues "playing"'

I'm just playing around with it a bit and I'm getting more and more amazed. It's probably the most beautiful Easter present I've ever received.

There is a new update for today. It is now 'Much' easier to select devices 8-)

- Device search in widget settings: When selecting a device for a widget, a search box now appears at the top of the dropdown. Start typing immediately to filter the list — no more scrolling through hundreds of devices.
- Timezone search in clock widget: The timezone selector now uses the same searchable dropdown. Type a city or region name to quickly find your timezone.
- Widget library auto-focus: Opening the widget library now immediately focuses the search box, so you can start typing the widget name right away.
- Fixed text colors: Table text that appeared white in certain themes is now correctly displayed in black. Widget value text color is also corrected.

Very nice update. I can now perhaps remove the (unfortunatley) not maintained HomeHabit Android app on my tablet (needed for the WAF)
Some remarks, questions:
- On the tablet I have to put the browser in desktop mode. Not sure that should be needed.
- I cannot move/relocate the tiles on a tablet, is it supported?
- The camera is nice. It would be nicer when clicked or tabbed on it the camera stream would popup in bigger format.
- The Counter / Energy Chart is not working nicely on the my P1 device, the graph stays empty. It is working on a General kwh device.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar

Additional:
I would like to swipe to the another dashboard when I have multiple dashboards. Not wait for the next dashboard to arrive in kiosk mode or to select the dashboard from the dashboard pulldown menu

Thank you for the nice new Look and update.

My wind sensor has a nice icon on the weather-tab

But on the new Dashboard it is a lightningbold like power.

New beta

@waltervl
- On the tablet I have to put the browser in desktop mode. Not sure that should be needed.
You seem to always get the mobile view on android tablets, this was happening before and is not related to the dynamic dashboard.
We are currently researching the issue

- I cannot move/relocate the tiles on a tablet, is it supported?
No, this is not possible with a tablet... it is to small and you need a desktop pc/laptop

- The Counter / Energy Chart is not working nicely on the my P1 device, the graph stays empty. It is working on a General kwh device.
Fixed in current beta

- The camera is nice. It would be nicer when clicked or tabbed on it the camera stream would popup in bigger format.
Implemented in upcoming beta

@Doler
- Barometer, Visibility and Sunpower. All with lightningbold iso proper icon
Sun Power ?
Are these correctly displayed on the normal dashboard?

There is now a special Barometer widget for barometers

Manage Dashboards dialog runs of screen after entering the 7th dashboard. The end of the dialog below 'Inactivity Timeout' is no longer reachable due to fixed position and length of the dialog.

Sometimes, moving and resizing works on my Android tablet with Chrome. But it is somehow arbitrary. Sometimes it works, but mostly it does not work. No matter, if desktop view is activated or no not. Strange.

Hello,
What a tremendous improvement with the ability to define lean dashboards.
Many thanks to @gizmocuz for this job and the reactivity to fix the small issues.
I am discovering the various features provided by the dynamic dashboard.
In the future it might be interesting to complement it with the ability to :
- inhibit the dynamic dashboard edit mode in domoticz settings in order to secure the dashboard layout provided to the different users
- set the grid definition when starting the edition of a new dashboard
- define a Button Block enabling to switch from one dashboard to another
